What is everyone's opinion on changing Human Rights? And their civil liberties being 'attacked'?

I have seen a lot of rubbish about this on my Social Media feeds about us needing to defend our civil liberties and this idea of changing Human Rights laws to stop terrorist is a terrible idea. I would happily be watched on every street in the UK if it stopped one more child from dieing due to a terrorist attack. It really doesn't bother me if I am watched all day long as I am doing nothing wrong.

Going by social media they seem to think the complete opposite to me, and I wondered if I am crazy...

If the country as a whole wants better services don't you think the country as a whole should pay a bit extra for it?

And that's not just a matter of fairness and equality, it's also realism, as anyone who has the ability to think for themselves will onoerhat labours manifesto is impossible to carry out without raising the lower rate of income tax and possibly VAT.

I wonder how many people would be demanding money be poured into the public sector if they had to help pay for it themselves?

I think shes said it to gain votes and it's backfired as quite a lot of people on social media have kicked off about it - even some of those who are supporting her.

It will have the same effect, as they're PLC's and the City will still be expecting profit increases despite the increase in their labour costs.

I think a lot of people these days prefer to shop local btw, the supermarkets will always have a massive place in the market, but I think the local trader like yourself for fruit and veg, butchers, bakers etc will continue to fight back, as people become ever more conscious of what they actually consume. Ironically I think that an increase in overall living standards due to a hike in the minimum wage would help that shift even further.

They didn't need to have further snooping rights in order to have known the identities and threat caused by the latest jihadists, as they were already known, and yet they didn't act. I think it's a diversionary tactic by May to point to human rights laws, when it was during her stint as Home office minister that the intel was for some reason ignored

It's incredible that this election is focusing on issues around taxation, public services, security etc.

May clearly banked on it being all about Brexit and misread the mood of the nation. It simply doesn't cover over the cracks formed over the last 7 years of miserable austerity.

If you plot the deficit on a graph with inflation taken into account, it shows a very steep incline under labour turns almost 45 degrees instantly under tories, and begins to plateau rather quickly. Don't forget labour spent everything including true gold reserves.

Also the police thing is another one of those piss take points scoring areas and it's been labours main campaign point recently. Yes the tories cut 20000 and everyone is moaning that police levels were cut at all but what are labour planning to do? Put 10000 back. Conveniently keeping half the cut, but nobody mentions that.

I hope so? I'm not pleading poverty! But a wage rise has to absorbed somewhere and as you've seen s/markets love to slash prices and it's usually fresh produce! For the reasons I explained! They can control the price of something that has been grown & the farmer has no choice but to accept their ( usually ) stupidly low price? Believe it or not the aldis and Lidls are more respectful of the farmer and pay well and on time (slightly off topic)

One of the London Bridge murderers was apparently on a watch list, but he still got into this country. That is a MASSIVE failure. but of course the do-gooders will say he couldn't have been deported back to Morocco anyway because it would have been against his human rights. What a load of BOLLOX. We have to start deporting those who shouldn't be in the country and a recognised threat instead of looking the other way, because some of these people are here to kill us...Rant over...

The annual borrowing under the last labour regime stood at just under £40bn before the crash in 08, it's now circa £60bn

Is it not an improvement to reduce the Tory cuts in Police numbers by half during the next parliament?

We're the 'do gooders' working for Border Force when he was let back in after the Italians had warned us of his potential threat?

You're right the response is that he couldn't be deported to Morocco... because he was Italian. The Italian authorities alerted about him as part of Schengen.

Good post......God forbid. It might need the son, daughter, brother etc of a prominent VIP to be murdered by a terrorist before common-sense kicks in, until then the Lib Dems and some Labour will fight any watering down of Human Rights, because it is what they do..Sad, but true...

<This> , she was obviously hoping to get a larger majority which because of events may not happen now, but at least she will be elected this time.
