I'm not convinced either bid is actually real. As talented as he is. You would have to be crazy to turn down around 100m Euros for an 18 year old with only one Season behind him.
Not saying that the bid is real, especially from our side. But transfers have moved up a notch in craziness and the boy is already getting hyped up to high heaven. They are making him out to be the reincarnation of the Braziilian Ronaldo.
Why not? Madrid just paid £40 odd million for some Brazilian kid who played one game in senior football. Mbappe despite his age, proved his talent at the highest possible level. When it comes to modern day football and money, nothing seems crazy anymore.
Wenger's confirmed he's interested in Mahrez http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40142219 I expect an insultingly low offer like with Cabaye
"Have we made a bid for him? No. Not yet. Not yet means it could happen, it could not happen," said Wenger. umm.....really?
...but the link doesn't quote him saying he is interested. He is typically giving a 'nothing' answer.
Oh bloody hell no more Wenger riddles, I swear he's like Dungeon Master when it comes to transfer windows.
Not really. He needs to sign players now and get his business done. Waiting around helps no-one. If he's interested, then he needs to bid a sufficient amount. He wonders why he gets fan backlash with the pointless bullshit he comes out with?
Are you honestly saying that he should tell the world that he wants to buy this or that player? Wenger is right to keep his intentions under wraps and only disclose them to those he has to. Dumb as ****.
As Cini pointed out, waiting around can be counter-productive, when we enter the new season under prepared with our new players. Getting our business done as quick as possible will give Wenger as much time to bed the players in and get a good pre-season in for them. If he chooses to go the same route as always, it will only make things harder to get us ready for the first game of the season.
Who says he is waiting around? I suggested that he simply may not want to tell the world of his plans. To suggest this is wrong is quite absurd.
Does it make any difference? It's not like any of that secret nonsense has worked in the past for us. Our transfer windows are usually drawn out affairs that occasionally come good. Both Pep, Mourinho and Klopp have identified targets and are going for them. City have already signed players and no doubt the others will too. I'm just bored of all his antics now. Just get on with it like the rest.
Come on now. I've no wish to argue here. But Wenger and our board are generally atrocious at getting deals done. Whatever it is he does rarely every works. If he's not interested he should say so. If he's interested but doesn't want others to know he should also say he's not interested. It's not like he cares about lying so it can't be that he doesn't lie just because of that. Nothing justifies his mysterious answers.
This is most likely what is going to happen. In which case it would be major regression IMO. Annoying how we probably will make a major signing (30m mahrez probably) only to lose Alexis toward the end of the transfer window...
Rumours today: Onyekuru says we have made an offer for him. We have supposedly upped our bid for mbappe to £95m We've agreed a deal with Turan but not agreed the feee with Barca yet. Juventus may want Szczesney And on a side note griezmann has aid he isn't moving.
We have upped our bid to £95m!? Yea gads. I can see the board sh*tting themselves if it gets accepted. Athletico have got their transfer embargo so no chance of AG leaving so that's one big name out of the way. Not for one moment suggesting we'd have gone for him but if other clubs can't have him it means their attention will turn elsewhere. Ornstein said we hadn't made an offer/approach for Onyekuru a few days back. I don't know what to believe any more! Also, if the finalists for the Chumps league think Chezzers is good enough to replace Buffon are we really still thinking he's not good enough for us? I mean, I know he smoked a cigarette and all but come on. No massively enthused about the Turan rumour. £30m+ for a 30 year old who's a very good player but not one who has set the world alight. I wouldn't cry if we did get him but Arsene has repeatedly said we're only after 2-3 players tops so if we get him and Kolasanic then that's nearly all business done. Which, to me, is a bit sh*t.
