At the launch of the Labour Party GE manifesto the shadow cabinet confidently assured the UK voters that their substantial spending programme had been fully costed. Corbyn could not contain his delight in informing the enthusiastic massed supporters that Diane Abbott's privately educated son has given her a crash course of adding up and taking away. :emoticon-0128-hi:

Diane later told reporters that if the Labour Party was elected in June on their manifesto and she was made Chancellor of the Exchequer she would learn the rest of her times tables by xmas.

Hours after the Labour Party launched its manifesto Corbyn's former buddy McCluskey said he cannot see Labour winning the election. He suggested only losing 30 seats would be a "successful result" for Corbyn. Most of the LP manifesto seems to have been written by the trade unions, does McCluskey now accept the UK does not want to return to the old days of industrial strife? The Labour Party tag of 'borrow and spend' is alive and kicking.

Which Govt have the biggest debt of all time? The current Conservative one... neatly ignored by the vast majority of the media which support the Tories.

I have done some research on the cost of the proposals ... around 50 billion for the declared costings so far.... is less than the money the Govt will have to put aside to fund BREXIT..... Taxpayers money gone to waste.....

Without the relatively modest austerity measures put in place by the coalition and latterly the Tories, apposed by most on the left of centre, the Labour causing debt would have been much higher.

Without the path to BREXIT put in to place entirely by the Tory party..... we would have been 50+ billion better off and could keep our libraries, youth service, care homes, support services etc....... I would rather care for the poor and needy than throw money in the black hole of BREXIT and an uncertain future

The EU referendum showed the majority who bothered to vote wanted the UK to leave the EU. The decision to have a referendum was supported overwhelmingly by parliament, The EU referendum act 2015 was passed by 544 votes to 53, clearly supported by more than Conservatives.

Two thirds of voters are now keen to proceed with Brexit a.s.a.p.

What Yorkie said was that the path to Brexit was laid by the Conservative Party - the referendum was called by a Tory (presuming he would win it) through fear of his MPs deserting to Ukip. In other words, an entirely unnecessary referendum (and all the instability associated with it) was called for inner party reasons, through fear of Ukip. Throughout the referendum we were mostly lied to by Tories (or ex Tories) from both sides (indeed Corbyn hardly said anything !). So, the Tories will be held account when Brexit goes horribly wrong - they are also responsible for all costs associated with it. Maybe it won't happen this time, but history will hold them to account. You also know, as well as I do, that the Tories have always spent more, and borrowed more (and paid back less of it) than the Labour Party has whilst in office - and that is fact. So the idea that the Tories are somehow 'better with the economy' is a myth which is supported only by the media. Unfortunately the Labour Party has not concentrated itself enough on destroying this myth.

The parliamentary vote to have a referendum was overwhelmingly supported by MP's from most political parties. Your accounting on national debt only works with the present debt level which was caused by Labour mismanagement in the last throes of their government. Opposition to austerity would have created more debt. There should have been a much greater degree of austerity than the Tories imposed due to having a slim majority. The current general election will sort that problem out.

After a good nights sleep McCluskey has rubbished his own comments above, he is now convinced 'Labour are in with a real chance'. This is better than a pantomime.

Or maybe he has a twin brother?
 
The UK unemployment rate fell again to 4.6% to March 2017. This is the lowest figure for over 40 years, whilst the employment rate rose to a fresh all-time high. This is an excellent endorsement of the present government's policies.

If the French are to reduce their very high rates of unemployment perhaps Macron should send a delegation to the UK to pick up some tips. I'm sure we would be willing to help our friends across the water.
