We're f*cked if West Ham play like they did against Spurs. Top 4 will be gone.

So hope Klopp tries something a bit different and then pray for an early goal for us. If we deploy the same tactics and West Ham sit back I can't see us scoring.

Not trying to be a downer but really not looking forward to this game, we have been dire for the last month and a bit, so expecting more of the same

We all know how it'll go down, keep getting to their box for the whole match to see everything break down, sit there worrying our ropey as defence will concede at any given moment, as well as hoping for one of our players to do something individually to break the deadlock

That's how we play football now, apart from 6 times a season against the other top 4 sides. It really is a small miracle that other teams around us are scrappy and we're still in that given the total capitulation that's happened since January

It's been very very soft, to put it lightly, what has happened to this team, and massively unimpressive how nobody in our team of weaklings, of feeble minds and mentalities and flimsy, slapdash performances, seems to want to go out and win games on their own boots or be capable of doing that

Questions already have to be asked of both players and manager at this point in light of what has played out this year, but even moreso if we don't win the two remaining games, about attitude, ambition and approach

There's a point. Personally I'm getting annoyed with seeing the same thing every game. It doesn't work. This guy gets off with so much just on the basis of his personality and that he's such a quirky, kind of off-beat figure. If you actually ignore the charm and personality smoke-screen what exactly is he achieving with the team ?? It's been dross for months and he persists with the same stuff, it's very one-dimensional football really

And yet we're fourth.....because of him.

How he's got this lot in this position deserves praise, not criticism. He has what he has to work with, inherited an entire team of flops, the last of which will leave this summer.

I agreed that the footy played has been awful when we've had injuries but I lay the blame on the transfer folly that preceded him. Certainly not on Klopp!

I agree. I accepted that we had little choice in most of the previous games, but with sturridge back for the southampton game, having seen us attempt to use Origi as a battering ram to no effect, i didnt understand why we couldnt play both strikers. Origi is at his best playing off the shoulder, so needs much more support than he's been getting up front

I dunno man, i'd say we're fourth as much in spite of him (and in spite of these **** players) as because of them

Compare the two paras you wrote. You admit the football has been terrible yet try and lay it on transfers when he has brought in a few of his own men and farmed out a fair few. Ask yourself are you not still buying into the personality cult ??

The same thoughts had occurred to me. What if a character like Rodgers or any other more restrained manager had achived exactly the same results as he had this season, would he not have been under more pressure?

I said mid season that everyone could see that we needed a plan B to cope with the smaller clubs who play for a point. Yet we persist in doing the same things. We put all the blame on the players' attitude. For a whole season with the manager not reacting? Irrespective of what happens till the end of the season, unless we can deal with the minnows as we do the top teams, we'll get nowhere.

Very fair that.

Is it "better" than last year? Only marginally. Matip and mane improve us but the rest aint great

Its down to two things

A) its first full season and one actually buying window.. now he rejected two buying windows too.. but in effect its one full season.

B) hes achieved something in football and has a rep and that buys you time... about 5/6 matches into next season only though

So yeah... plan a or plan b or whatever... our plan a right now is not fast one touch football. It is fast press on players in transition and win it in space.

All the frailties of our team are exposed when sides deny that press an opportunity to function. Be it sit deep with 10 and accept a point or pump it long like leicester.

The result are very clear. No press and our weaker cms and back line will cough skmething up at some point.

As it stands... had we merely been hard to score against (bournemouth = 5 points, hull at least 1, swansea 3) we could have been much higher up.

This suggests mane transforms firmino and coutinho and our side but milner, henderson, mingolet and lovren especially cough up goals.... imo we lack depth up rop but seriously lack defensive nous at the back.....

I exclude matip cos if you watch him closely hes always right side and in a posirion to block. Hes not agressive enough to compete aeriually despite his height but that is mostly set piece issue.

I do share the same feelings to an extent, however I would give him the next season and see how he gets on. We might be a different animal with different players.

I must admit though, based on what I have seen from our side, I was hoping to see more from Klopp. Maybe my expectations were too high?

Naaaaahhhh... in the end hes bought in 3/4 max in mane, matip and wijnaldum and by in large all improved us. Hes moved lallana and transformed him.

If anything critique milner left full and how hes now burned out and that hes not shown much abiliry to really change players errors at the back where we constantly see poor positional play.

Critique failing to buy in january

Critique him not doing enough fast enough... but not that hes not delivered a good first half of season that we have been dragging home since. We did very very well first half but the team are playing nothing like it now

I agree. I still lament our inability to sign a left back in the last two windows. Apart from the obvious. It would have freed Milner to play in Midfield more often.

You lot haven't suffered anywhere near enough!

Not one of you has foreseen Arsenal's Callum Chambers scoring an extra time hat-trick for Middlesbrough to tie next week's game at 3-3. At the same time Coquelin hits the winner from 75 yards which takes 8 deflections before being wrongly ajudged to have crossed the line by a computer incorrectly callebrated by Duncan Ferguson's nephew.

****ing amateurs the lot of you! Who remembered not to have the lasagne?

Ok. I should have written top 4 instead. Apart from the meaningless early weeks of the season, we've not been out of top 4 throughout the whole season if I'm not mistaken.

We were 5th for a couple of weeks in February

<laugh>

"Brian" can one surmise that the Spursy effect is very deeply ingrained in you.:bandit:

It is a total bottle job by everyone involved, but not today, it's been going on for weeks. Arsenal beating man city in the semi final was disastrous for us and gave them confidence, whilst we throw points away at every hurdle.

I'm going 2-1 to West Ham today, a typically flat performance with poor passing and complete lack of desire to win

Firmino is out of the game and is not in the squad with injury.

Well that's us fu<ked even more so now

We're not the only team to finish 4th and NOT get a sniff of CL gravy without reason. I bet we're building the new ground in the wrong place and have to start again.
