You still spend over £50m on average players. That's my point.

The fact you did well financially from Sissoko and Wij is not my point (though you did, obviously).

And yeah, you scraped over the line. It's only a few weeks back there were calls for Rafa to go, on your forum, on the phone in's etc. and people were settling for the play offs and ****ting themselves about Huddersfield. Yet since Brighton & Huddersfield lost the plot everything's hunky dory now and all is forgiven.

And for what it's worth, with Moyes and Short involved we'll be no where near the automatic spots next year IMO.

Ritchie is genuinely premiership quality (or at least i think he is). We spent £38m on average players though. We had the money to spend, we spent it and achieved the aim - promotion is promotion. Don't really care about having won the league, we were 9 points ahead of 3rd though and promoted with 3 games to spare - made a meal of it at times but fairly comfortable in the end. 2 games into the season (played 2, lost 2) I was worried though I don't recall anyone calling for Rafa's head, I don't doubt there will have been as with most clubs when things get tough the idiotic minority start mouthing off and the majority retreat into their shells a bit.

A fair chance we're getting relegated next season but we'll be in the mix with a few other teams and just got to hope they mess up more than we do.

Cisse, Janmaat, De Jong, Wij, Sissoko, Thauvin, Krul, Cabella, Saylor, Riviere

So how much should it have cost to replace all that? To be honest don't care how much we spent, I'd spunk 100m up wall to come back first time of asking :1980_boogie_down:

Duno where these threads are calling for Rafa's head and can't say 'Talksport experts' are a representation of a fanbase.
Newcastle fans settling for 'play offs' !?!? Nar we're all too deluded mate

When addressing people of Sunderland Albert it is suffice to say " Everyone" We only have Ladies and Gentlemen , it is only in Newcastle where the confusion between the two arises

The one hundred and thirty million pounds you spent has at least bought you some success !!!!!!!!

It's a shame that we didn't sell any players, otherwise we could have made a profit !

If you intend to use the same formula going forward " Good Luck " even the most ardent of Newcastle supporters expressed surprise at their good fortune

Well, from your point of view I would have thought that things could have gone a lot better had HM Revenue and Customs not poked their inquisitive head into your Clubs financial affairs.
Perhaps you have forgotten what happened to Rangers in Scotland.
Lets hope Newcastle have nothing to worry about eh?

Still, if the worst was to happen, think of the benefit that The Toon Army might bring to the lower tiers of the Game.

What, you think Fat Mike would be pictured with the championship trophy on saturday alongside someone who may have been involved in tax fiddling behind his back? We await what happens but I very much doubt it <mackems clutching at straws>
