My guess is they've sat him down and asked him to name his price as they'd never sack him and pay up the remainder of his contract.

Agree just lacking so much in self belief when going forward unfortunately same seems to apply to the defence -Pickford apart - he's so good at distribution as well as saving us regularly.
But as you imply a goal ahead and our tails will go up - hold on ...I'm starting dreaming - lol
Same here. Still don't think for one second he'll walk, but if he did I changes everything. Pearson in with Super Kev and Ken Way in his backroom staff, add to that Robert Shakespeare when Leicester finally stop experimenting with him and move for another Raniari type.
Would Phillips want to work with Moyes though? He's got his TV work while he waits for Pearson to be offered something than he walks stight back into a tried and tested working relationship. I wouldn't work under Moyes personally. I know from watching the U23s Stokdale's style of play, it's uptempo and attacking, absolutely none of that is being transferred to the first team. I think Kev would prefer a gaffer who values his own philosophy.
Hard to say, if he does have an issue with Moyes and it's not hard to imagine he would then it'd depend on if his desire to be back at Sunderland outweighs it.
At any rate it'd be good PR and give us a bit of a lift, if it was to happen.

Could be a decent shout though Pearson doesn't exactly excite - he might be the man to galvanise a broken club (which we re at the minute). He's big into Sports Psychology IIRC which could help us hugely.

Exactly my thinking. I know Pearson is a bit of a tosser with the press, that would be a problem to most as our fan base has proved to be right precious(and at times selective) about managers and the press. But it's never been a priority to me. Pearson tends to build unified squads who often overachieve because of it. Exactly what we need if money is going to be tight imo.
I'd rather have a manager who I didn't feel a strong urge to punch in the face and who wasn't a public embarrassment to himself and my club on the reg but if it's a choice between that and potential long term stability for us then it's a no brainer.
I didn't like Keane or Di Canio much before they took charge but I got over that pretty quickly.
We could still get Sam back if Ellis is thinking big enough, but realistically Nigel pearson, Mick mcarthy, What about Gordon Strachan if Moyes gets the Scotland job but who else ? Going back to our relegation we cannot complain we had 10 consecutive years in the premier, and a few great finishes and beat the mags 6 on the trot and I was there when it happened, and there is some great grounds to go to like Brammel lane, Elland road, Bolton, Villa park and 107 points to go for.

The Pearson-Philips-Stockdale combo looks good to me, if Moyes walks we could do a lot worse. I am looking forward to next season and may even pop along to the odd game again. 
Just to balance the books a little about me saying we have not been as bad as indicated cast your minds back over the season and look at the points players have cost us: Pickford at Soton and his hesitation at Boro. Pienaar allowing Walker to hook the ball away at Spurs, Khazri fluffing a simple chance at WHU, Defoe against WBA, Jones etc. Possibly 10-15 points lost. Also add Kone's lack of effort that led directly to goals in games that we were doing OK in.
Please do not trot the old cliche of making your own luck and crap like that, as the impact of scoring the first goal goes a long way to deciding results in the Prem.
Finally, for good measure I will chuck the injury history again because as fast as we got player back somebody got crocked. A lousy season full chops and changes to a small squad but all that is chucked out of the window in the wailing about Moyes. it was about this time last season when Sam was sinking into his seat mouthing the description "pathetic" to our performances.
