He deserves his own thread after today, Danny Seabourne was excellent at centre half today, one every header and cleared everything he came across, was overly surprised, couldn't believe it. Not sure we could rely on him as a starter week in week out though but today he played a blinder. How we didn't win 4-0 I don't know.
Glad Seabourne had a good game. Unless we sign someone he's going to play a lot of games and this wil be good for his confidence.
Fully support this thread - to all you Seaborne bashers - GET OFF HIS CASE! He was a tower of strength today and doesn't deserve some of the harsh comments that are made
The lack of responses on this thread speak volumes. Plenty of comments and insults when he puts in a below par performance yet when he has a blinder there is little praise for the man.
I agree Seaborne played very well but I don't think anyone played poorly yesterday, in fact they were all excellent. There was also plenty of discussion during the week about Dan Harding (I admit to not being a fan of his) but he had a great game too. Maybe competition for places has raised the performances a notch or two.
Seaborne has always been a good defender for us. It's his distribution that let him down, although he seems to have improved that this year.
maybe because it was an away game so there wasnt exactly 20,000 of us watching im sure if he'd performed like that at home there would be more posts
That's what Nigel said. Cork's arrival has made midfield up their game and he hopes that Fox will do the same for the defence.
Seabourne is a defender. Fonte aside, when did a defender become headline news..? However, from what I saw and heard, Seabourne had a cracker of a game. Good for him. As did almost everyone else.
I thought that was referees? Talking of which, yesterday's was a bit of a puzzle to me. In the first half when we were almost totally dominant he gave us a lot of decisions even to the point of favouring us. Then at some point during the second half he did an about turn. Awarding free kicks to Barnsley when it should have been the other way, totally ignoring the constant fouling of Lambert and then sending off Chaplow. I'm still undecided about that, he could well have been right on that but he couldn't wait to get the card out.
In the first half the Referee wasn't getting much help from his linos, a couple of awful off side flags went against us, maybe he decided to take matters more into his own hands. He did miss several dubious tackles on Lala, who as usual didn't make a fuss. He had no choice with the Chaplow sending off, it was never in doubt, not malicious just reckless and badly timed.
Yep, sounded like he had a really good game. I'm very pleased for him. (I would have replied earlier, but I looked at the title and assumed it was a Pompey-related thread....only reason I popped on it now was to check everthing was running smoothly etc).
