Mourinho mentioned about Shaw's lack of football brain. In a couple of ways I can see what he means. JWP was always jokingly saying that Shaw was slow to take instruction, and academically he was quite poor. There was also the suggestion that he was a bit of a cruiser, ie, he did enough and no more, and relied on his talent. He couldn't play for 90 minutes, that's for sure, because he was never quite fit enough. I think quite a few ex-Southampton players have never quite reached their full level due to running off a bit too early, or doing it at all. Of the ones from Walcott onwards, Lallana appears to be fulfilling his potential. Bale has exceeded his. Walcott has never quite been the wonderkid, and OXO stalled seasons ago. Where's Chambers.? Morgan's departure for ManU was disastrous. He couldn't quite make the next step, and Shaw is in line to do the same. The common factor is that they've all been bought for their potential and only two or maybe three [I'm excluding the non-prem players] have taken the step. Perhaps expectations are too much for them.? I wouldn't buy these Southampton players. Far too prone to failure.
please log in to view this image Agent fees for last 2 windows. Suprised at how low Spurs are. Also we paid less than Bournemouth & WHU (no suprise there!). But more than Everton & Sunderland. Are ours higher than anyone expected or about right? Bearing in mind I make us 9th highest.
Oh and on another (quite funny) note, the lowest spenders in the Conference were Aldershot, with a grand total spent on agent fees of... £56
We had to enter the market, as key personal had left. So its about right, but Everton, someone has knocked a zero off theirs!
Yeah they along with how low Spurs is are the 2 shocks for me. Bournemouth pretty high too I suppose.
Shocked by Spurs? You've heard of a bloke called Daniel Levy right? Add that to a duck's arse to form a well known saying Oh and here's his earnings.... https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.ci...irector-in-the-premier-league-last-season/amp
New contracts perhaps? I assume agents get some sort of fee for negotiating those? No idea how many Bournemouth players have signed new contracts though.
Sssssh....theoretically we could be 13th after this weekend. Good that we have improved our GD....that could gain us a place or two.
Sorry, I should have read back. We used to be very low on agents fees, but we need to compete. We take long enough to land players now.
Plus Mark Wilson, Lewis Cook, Brad Smith, Lys Moussett, Nathan Ake, and no doubt one or two others. Ultimately, it's just more proof of how bad they are in the transfer market: (A) to have spent all these agent fees, and (B) generally speaking, the players they've signed don't play and you forget that they were signed.
You do wonder how Watford are 10th. Weak side on paper, and they have form of being battered like this.
Tottenham are looking very good. Watford are terrible, but Spurs could be 6-0 up and it's only just half time. 3-0 as it is. If Bournemouth upset Chelsea Tottenham will only be 4 points behind them.
Watford in full on beach mode, decent side on their day with some very good players but so ridiculously inconsistent. Sounds pretty familiar actually
