Before I moved to Cornwall 4 years ago I lived in Binfield a village on the way to Wokingham from Bracknell.

It had a number of pubs, The Roebuck, used to have good food, awful garden. The Standard at the crossroads, a locals pub bit spit and sawdust but had Sky Sports. The Victoria Arms also had Sky Sport and a quiz on a Sunday night that was very competitive, nice garden. Further along from there another pub, name escapes me, (but towards one of the two churches) had an old fashioned bowling alley in the barn to the side, think they did competitions/ league for bowling and stuff. Also The Stag which was a lovely pub always had an open fire, very old building with a huge tree stump in the car park which was reportedly the original centre of Windsor Great Park. There was also a nice pub The Warren on the back road to Wokingham, trying to be a gastro type pub, but nice food and a good beer garden.

I give all the above information, based on living there 4 years ago, and we all know how much the pub industry has changed in that time.

I hope the regeneration of the town centre happens as they promised it all the years I lived there, (about 10 years) it will greatly improve the area.

The Jack o' Newbury in Binfield. I am from that area. I also played in that quiz. It would be weird if we knew each other. <yikes>

We didn't go to the quiz every Sunday but it was just my husband and I and most others where in big teams, we usually lost but at least we went home with the sweets they gave to the losers.

Tedward!

I certainly hope it's not like South Oxhey.

cool, should have been this week and you could have watched the Derby/Rangers game with me and Mouse down the local. :emoticon-0148-yes:

I've officially joined the ranks of property owners and will spend the next 50 years reading The Express, voting Tory and antagonising about interest rates and house prices.

Gutted it's Reading at home rather than away first day.

Congrats, but you're not really a home owner till you've shouted at someone to get out of your garden...

Congrats Watford! We should arrange a 'Welcome to Bracknell' drink. Funnily I passed your new place the other day and wondered if you had moved in okay. agree Reading away would have been better. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Thanks mate. No doubt we'll be on the box soon. The Downshire Arms across from me is quite pleasant.

Yes, it used to be a Beefeater or still is. Mouse lives about 400 yards from there. We will have to a have a beer.
Have been thinking about setting up a Bracknell and Wokingham R's Facebook page for (tickets/lifts and watching games). A lot of out here. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Good plan.

Yeah still a Beefeater but doesn't feel too much like a chain.

I've not done Cardiff's new ground and it's only 90 mins from Reading will be doing that for sure in September.
