My daughter lives in Bracknell along with a couple of cousins. When I go down go to the Green Man.

I lived in Bracknell for 9 years and Ascot for 20. Can't recall a single decent pub in Bracknell. Best go to The Belvedere in Ascot; or Carpenters Arms or Dog and Partridge, both in Sunninghill.

It's called West Windsor now and it's ****ing lush. Wait until the shopping centre is built and it's full of bored housewives from Ascot and Windsor.

Don't get me wrong, like most towns, Bracknell has some very nice bits (eg Martins Heron) and some less nice bits (eg Great Hollands). The housing stock isn't cheap which speaks volumes and the work on the new town centre will take it further upmarket. I just never thought much of the pubs and you're best going further afield for some good ones.

Try also the Station pub (and Jagz) in Ascot and Duke of Edinburgh in Woodside (off Windsor Road).

I'm only 20 minutes down the road in Camberley.

Agree with Rodney, you've got a great selection of pubs in Windsor, Ascot, Sunninghill and Windlesham.

Yeah, I used The Bee in Windlesham a few times a while back. Good gastro pub but things change, good and bad, when the landlord changes.

Lived in Maidenhead for 15 years and Bracknell was viewed as nothing more than having loads of roundabouts......

When West Windsor (home of the exiled Gooner in my experience) gets its new shopping centre it will be able to compete with the gorgeous Basingrad just down the road. Happy days.

I work in Bracknell, have done for the last 5 years. Have to say there are a few decent pubs around. In 'town' The Manor is ok, does good food, we normally go once a week for a team lunch/drink. Other's I've been to in the area are the Golden Retriever, The Yorkshire Rose, The Cricketers is another. There quite a few, if you go about a mile out.
Once the Town Centre is built 'West Windsor' will be quite nice. It is coming along quite nicely, I normally take a walk down to the few shops that are still open, but there will be a new huge Fenwick's, M&S a new Cinema and apparently loads of eating places, which should go down quite well.

Cricketers used to be good but not been for a while. Nice spot. Wasn't so keen on Yorkshire Rose but, again, haven't been for quite some time and it depends on the landlord which, in most cases, changes every few years. Can understand why you like the Manor - probably the best pub in the centre.

Sorry, only messing with the pics, I live just down the road from Bracknell, it's not a bad place to live. I can't stand KFC, I got food poisoning from a KFC in Reading a few years back. I guess you get what you pay for food wise...

I lived in Bracknell for nearly 4 years in dark days after Uni. Did try a number of the pubs, don't know if they are still alive and kicking. The Boot, the Blue Lion (was run by Reading "legend" Gary Peters) had a good garden, Red Lion was a good start point before 45 minutes in Oceans drinking rubbish beer in plastic glasses. That was when pubs shut at 11 and the night club shut at 12 cos of the violence. We used to drive out to the Cider House, can't remember it real name; drink 2 hand grenades and make a bolt back to town before they took affect. (Still binge drinking after uni)

Used to drink at the Horse & Groom in Ascot (played Centre Half for their Sunday league side); good pub run by a Gooner who was mates with Tony Woodcock who came and drank with us on a couple of occasions.

Wokingham was the best pub crawl at the time, 10 or so pubs on one loop of the town from the train station. Responsible binge drinking at its finest.

I could only afford to live in Mount Pleasant near the football ground, but the club used to be a bit of fun on match days, crowds of 100-200 and cheap beer in the club house.

Sounds like I enjoyed myself there, don't be fooled, couldn't wait to get enough experience under my belt to move out.
