I thought it was our clearest case of a bad buying decision. Fazio is both very good at some things and definitely limited. We needed him to do things he couldn't do, and we should have realized that before we bought him. Conversely, Vertonghen and Alderweireld were brilliant buys, and have been keys to making our system work.Rafael just got fouled by one of his own teammates and had to go off for treatment.
As he's playing for Lyon against Roma in Europe, I somehow doubt he'd swap places with his brother Fabio, though.
4th in France and playing in the Europa or 3rd from bottom and playing for Boro?
Not much of a choice, for me.
Fazio's just given Roma the lead with a great header, though. Lyon chasing the game now.
Good player, just completely unsuited to our high line.
A Spurs Odyssey....2001 : the ENIC has landed !!!

So according to you, it's not an illegal approach if representatives of one club meet with a player contracted to another club without the contracted club's consent if somebody not related to either party sees them meeting?Yes, and dead secret too, in the lobby of a hotel in Naples for 2 hours![]()
Man U doing something naughty?I don't believe it. Oh you of little faith.Napoli's Belgium winger Dries Mertens, 29, met Manchester United representatives for two hours in the lobby of a hotel in Italy earlier this week to discuss a potential move. (Daily Express)

Why do you believe it's without the contracted clubs consent, because the story is no fun the other way?So according to you, it's not an illegal approach if representatives of one club meet with a player contracted to another club without the contracted club's consent if somebody not related to either party sees them meeting?
Do me a favour. Pick up a second class stamp and look on the back of it. You see that small, empty space there? The part that's sticky? Good. Based on that response you made, you could use that as the blank canvas to write your entire knowledge of football regulations - and when you've finished with that, you still have plenty of room to write down every meaningful and insightful comment you've made on this forum in the past few weeks.
Or you could just use it as a stamp, given there wouldn't be a single thing written on the back of it.

Are you sitting comfortably? Good, let's begin. Why do you believe it's without the contracted clubs consent, because the story is no fun the other way?
I will leave some space on the stamp for you![]()
What do you imagine this bit meansAre you sitting comfortably? Good, let's begin.
Over the hills and far away, Manchester United forgot to say
"Dear Mr & Mrs Napoli, can Dries Mertens play for me?"
Rather than be nice and make a bid, instead they went to a hotel and hid
While they were there they had a chat, with Mertens behind Napoli's back
You don't need the eyes of an eagle, to know this approach is illegal
And if you want to argue otherwise, then I guess we will all surmise
That you have no clue what you're talking about, nor do your words have much clout
So rather than keep posting here, shouldn't you pull your head out your rear?
As your head is firmly stuck up, and we'd all be happy if you shut...
Since you have plenty of room on the back of the stamp, you can write down what you think the last two words are. Maybe if you're really clever you might guess what they are!

So tell me, when did Man Utd submit a bid for Mertens? And was this bid accepted by Napoli? What do you imagine this bit means

Maybe his club just might know he is talking to others, just a thought like
On the other hand (in a far away world) both him and United may just be daft enough to spend 2 hours together in a very public place clandestinely discussing a move whilst random reporters were wandering past![]()
