Do we view this as the dreaded vote of confidence or a genuine we are backing him, will the media please now stop speculating. I'm inclined with the latter. Much is written the the honour of own owners and i think they'd feel genuinely disrespectful to bin him after last season. I'm sure they can be ruthless as they are successful business men but they are very bound by their beliefs.

Could be argued that changing the manager this time of year can scrape you the few extra points for safety, look at Hull now and Sunderland the last few years. Though this isn't always the case looking at big sam now and Magath a few years back.

I don't feel that its Ranieris fault entirely, he tried to keep last season rolling, its just the squads not got the drive this season.

Its probably well overdue but we need the tinkerman back.

My own view for what it's worth is that the Chairman is providing genuine reassurance to everyone at the club at this stage.

Thai culture is based on respect and fair dealing. The board stuck with Nigel Pearson through the great escape even though that could have gone tits up throughout those games (only sure of safety after the draw at Sunderland). Nigel Pearson lost his job more because of behaviour than down to results, culminating when he sought to defend the undefendable (at least as far as the owners were concerened - the Thailand tour debacle).

In Claudio Ranieri they have a manager whose behaviour has been exemplorary on and off the pitch and who not only delivered the unbelieveable but is still continuing to take the club beyond where it has ever been - i.e reaching the last 16 in the UCL - the club's previous European campaigns haven't seen us get much further than a single tie!

For me they will stick with him for another season, even if the unthinkable were to happen and we were to be relegated. Personally I don't think that will happen because, as last night demonstrated, we have a lot of quality in the depth of the squad. Yes we do need to start performing in the league - and hopefully that will happen now.

The media have ben quite mischevious and our struggles this season have provided many who were left with egg-on-face last season with opportunities to regain some kudos (in their own minds at least).

Just think for a minute about the usual seasonal journey supporting Leicester City in the top flight over all the years you have been supportingg them. A fight against relegation and probably going out of the cup quite early.

Have we ever had a squad filled with such quality and with 'young talent' of the level of Chilwell, Kaputska, Gray, Ndidi, Musa and also some of the lads coming through the development squad..

We now have a good chance of making the FA Cup quarter finals and a 'fighters' chance of making the last 8 in the Champions League ... in terms of 'seasonal norm' in the top flight for us that is quite fanrtastic - yes we have the little matter of a relegation fight - but hopefully we have the squad to cope ... I think we do ... let's hope so <ok>

Leicester City have sacked manager Claudio Ranieri, the club have announced.
Ranieri, 65, led Leicester City to a maiden Premier League title last season but the Foxes currently sit just one place and one point off the relegation zone after a tumultuous defence of their title.

The former Greece coach was given a vote of confidence only two weeks ago but the East Midlands club have now sacked the 65-year-old.
