Looks like we are gonna have quite a busy summer from reading around Klopp looks like he is gonna try and sort problem areas Pereira linked as LB for example, Aubameyang rumours around, Ramirez also

I think after the summer it will be pretty much 'his team' in that there will deffo be nobody there who he doesn't want and majority players he has kept around/signed so judge Klopp then, right now it's players who need judgement

If we are not top 4 then forget any big name signings in the summer. It is hard enough trying to sign someone when we are not London based, but with no CL we have no chance.

Pay him that much and a few of our current players would be expecting a payrise
Meh, £170k and £34m for someone who hasn't never really built on his potential.
As a fan, can't say I'm too angry about not bowing to Draxler's demands. 170k is a lot of money.

However I can understand there is a growing frustration in the approach to transfers, even if there are reasons for how **** our transfers have been in recent years. The fact we keep going for players from other EPL teams, which costs a lot more than than it should. The fact certain areas of the team still aren't fixed, that we haven't looked to buy genuine worldclass players or highly rated younger players.
The leaked emails haven't helped either, FSG's interest being mainly in profits.

Overall, on a personal level, I'm fine with FSG at the moment and the ownership. Mistakes have been made and the transfer policy has been a mess, think a big summer is needed if we ever want to win the Prem.

Klopp has never been a huge spender though. Get the feeling he's been seeing who is really up for it. Would have had 18 months come summer and know who will and won't make it.

So fat, been no suggestion that fsg haven't backed Klopp when he's asked for money. If we move players on in summer and we miss out on targets then, that's when the owners are going to be seriously questioned.

No one bought in January, and Klopp didn't seem that bothered about not bringing anyone in so don't think we were ever really looking to do business.

Thing is, £170k/week is not that much today. We won't be able to get any top player without paying it (or more) so if we really though that he was a top player, we should have paid it. Apparently we didn't think he was!

Aubameyang will want more. I guess that'll rule him out too. Shame.

But Kloppo doesn't buy names, he makes them (apparently), so there is no need for big wages or transfer fees <ok>

Never stood any chance of getting him anyway. He's Madrid bound if he moves. Plus Klopp said when we were linked with Goetze, why buy players you have already managed when you know what they can & can't do.

Maybe because you know they can make your team much better?
Is he in the game to prove how good he is at finding players or to do his best for the club?

Pierre is worth paying more for. That's the difference

Draxler is a very talented player who would come into the first team and improve us.

£170k is a lot of money but he's at a stage in his career where he could demand that. We should have been targeting him before we went to Wolfsburg.

It's all relative - would you rather pay £170k to a youngster with world class potential, plays for the best national team, CL experience and generally proven to play at a high level or give £150k a week to Lallana who is 29, past his peak, has had a good 2 months in around 3 years?

At the end of the day, this club has some very big contracts to average players. Lucas Milner Lovren Lallana Hendo are all earning over £100k a week for very little return - that's around £500-600k a week.

From all the youth players we've tried I only see TAA and Woodburn as being able to step up I suppose that's something though how often does anyone produce loads of them.

no this stuff is patently ridiculous. If we bought every player you say we should have got before they went to x we'd be loaded with flops. Not everyone works out, not everyone gets a chance. We are looking at guys who went to different clubs as one guy and get a break and not the 9 others who actually flopped then we say oh why didn't LFC buy that one guy.

The reality is plyaers flop all the time, every transfer is a risk and thats why draxler cost what he did and why van dijk will cost 40mil. they've proved they didn't flop.... simple.

IF LFC bought every kid in europe we'd be criticising them for being chelsea and hoarding talent... BTW see who that work out for chelsea... they end up buying every senior player and while they make a lot loaning and transfering these guys they still have to bloody go buy thier first team don't they?

BTW... on that list jimmy you are completely wrong lucas is not over 100k, neither is lovren and lallan only just got awarded his contract. you'd want to know your facts before blustering about contracts.

lucas is reputedly on 80k and lovren 65k... you just lumped all your pet hates into one pile and accused them of being on over 100k.

Anyway, its not necessarily always about spending big. There are gems out there waiting to be discovered.

Look at Kante and Mahrez............fackin' peanuts

and the other 100 players like them that are Oussama Assaidi.

people throw out the fees paid for those two but the reality is mahrez was on trials up in scotland and was pure luck steve walsh saw him playing for le harve when he ws looking at a different player... and kante well he was a 5mil player which is great and all that but Leicester took the risk

the point is for every one of these bargains there and scores of others who cost about the same and were same risk and never had anything like the impact

sure there are gems out there but LFC are not getting 11 of them. If we get ONE i'll be happy.... and btw.. we got Matip for nowt..

lets just cheer up about this stuff eh?

If it were easy everyone would be doing it.

Klopp got his squad this summer for zero effectively and its not delivered after december. say... 5 weeks ago this debate would be laughed out of town given our position but a lot of us on this site aid about 6th based on this squad me included.

So you're saying that we should wait for players to become more established, at which point they'll go to a bigger club and we'll be priced out?

Im more than happy for us to go pay big money for young talents then give expensive contracts to average experienced players.

It will be interesting to see how city get on - a world class manager like Pep is giving a platform for Jesus Sterling and Sane.

Regarding your last point - my apologies. These players are all on cheap wages and we're getting value for money. Even though combined, they're in approx £500k a week. But I guess I'm wrong.

I'm just surprised how we're not winning the league.

Whatever makes you feel better. :)
