All this talk about Klopp under pressure is clearly ridiculous. If there is any pressure it is the pressure he puts on himself. there is no pressure from the owners, or fans.

What worries me slightly is that he's raised expectations this season. While many expected an improvement from last season, few expected that blistering start to the season with us beating the top favourites and leading the table. We were even expecting at some stage to be in the title chase. And we had almost taken 4th for granted. If we miss out on CL never mind the Europa it will be a bitter disappointment for many.

Even then I don't think Klopp's position will be under pressure but disappointment and expectations do funny things to fans. Just look at Leicester and you think "how is it even possible they are talking about sacking the manager they should build a statue for outside their stadium"?

Because they're Leicester and we're Liverpool <ok>

Klopp ain't the problem. We are just ****.

I mean, he did take over a mid table team and only bought 2 players that have slightly improved 2 positions (Matip and Mane) and a virtual zero net spend. He did incredibly well to challenge for 1st place and we are doing very well at the moment in the league table considering.

Wijnaldum?

Karius?

Klavan?

So you think that if your bad run continued, and you'd slid out of the top 4 by the end of March, then he'd not be under any pressure at all then mate?
Never said that <laugh> In fact I didn't call it a bad run - it isn't - it's only more emphasised because of the cup games. Klopp was under pressure from day 1. He called in his opening interview for patience and the sane amongst us [or in my case the semi-sane] all respect that. He's the right man for the job, no doubt about it. More losses will feed the media more than the discerning fans.

We are already out of top 4 and realistically the relative talent levels and squads wiyld suggest we wont get back there.

Oh and its a terrible run. A shocker... but it makes no difference. Theres nobody in global football that could do a better job or would come to us.

Nobody in global football could have won more than 1 game in 10 (against a 4th tier team), you seriously have to be kidding there <laugh>

Yeah I agree - no point buying a lesser quality winger in January if you're going to land up number 1 target in the summer.

However, how often do we land the number 1 target - it's worrying. Brandt is apparently the player Klopp wants but come the time, he'll go somewhere else. This is where I'm saying that we need to be more aggressive.
Surely that would be a good way to build squad strength by giving you a competent back up when you get the first choice in the summer?

Yet but, but, he has only had 1 full preseason and 3 transfer windows (not much help when you have to scrape in what you can to spend). :bandit:

He's got to live or die by his decisions but I'm happy with proceedings so far. Sure, we're in a blip but he'll be learning more about the players now than when we were winning. Plus I think we will go on a good run soon enough.

Just a thought though...

Teams have started sitting deep and narrow, clearly shouting "come and break is down". The biggest problem for us here is the removal of pressing.

As Klopp shot himself in the foot? He went on MNF talking about pressing being the best No.10 in the world.

Teams sitting back remove this strength!

i think personally its al about firmino not going the work any more.. forget the sit deep stuff. sides can do that and still mess up and pass and cough up an chance.

the passing speed is awful right now. 4 touch football... not 1 touch... then you look at the front 3 and firmino is not starting the press any more.

klopp needs to sort 3 things

1. incompetant defense. IF we had any competance these losses recently would have been draws. hull and woleves and swansea were down to rank defending... rank

2. passing speed. get one touch going. that requires moving to get a pass and constant moving

3. press from front.

No it isn't. As I said, take the cup games out which were a shocker but by a scratch team, and the last 5 league games aren't that bad, not what we expected for a team supposedly challenging but equally that early challenge run wasn't expected.

Firmino needs to be central to start the press

When at Dortmund they brought in that training machine to do passing. Balls came from any direction and you had to pass it to the right place straight away.

The cup games are still part of the fixture list so yes, it is a terrible run.

However, just to play along...

We've lodt two and drew three of our last five that included games against Hull, Sunderland and Swansea!

Am I somehow not supposed to know that and you pointing it out will alter my opinion? :bandit:
