Klopp has largely escaped any ire from Reds as yet, but he needs a result and quick otherwise the pressure will mount on him, as the current run is truly pish, especially in comparison to your earlier season form, which had raised the level of expectation.

Sorry mate I don't agree with any of that. Citing Chelsea wasn't a good example as their history of sacking managers is second to none. Similarly with the Ranieri example, I doubt any fans, Leicester included, ever thought they'd do anything in the league this season. That said, they are still in the FA Cup [don't you know] and top the group stage in the CL - that's pretty amazing tbf.

Fans have been on JH's case from day 1 over anything and everything - ask mito As for our results, cup games thrown no doubt, not happy with that but in the league a 5 game streak of 3 draws 2 losses isn't that bad. As for expectations, you know our expectations are sky high and always have been which is why a certain section of fans voice their concern if the new stand isn't big enough, the owners aren't spending enough, and heaven forbid we lose a game we should have won. Compare that to your terrible three month run where you only won 2 games to see the comparison in expectations and yes I'm aware you weren't comparing us with yourselves, just put that in to emphasise my point.

The reviving of this old thread is itself symbolic. Whoever did it wanted us to question or at the very least discuss Klopp otherwise why do it?

Someone asked about honeymoon period. We are more than one whole season (the old added to this) and no one expects a honeymoon period to last more than first few weeks (by definition) even in the strongest relationship.

Of course we will go through difficult periods and blips. The question here is whether what we going through at the moment is a blip or a period where our shortcomings have come back to haunt us.

The matches against Spurs and Leicester will tell us. Anything less 4 points it will indicate more than a blip. We needed reinforcements in January (easier said than done I know). It will mean that we could be overtaken by the mancs in 5th. Which seriously does not bear thinking about when we have only the league to focus on while they have other mid week matches to play.

I was using Chelsea and Leicester as examples of the fickleness in football, as they're the last 2 Champions, but it's results in the present that ultimately matter.

So it's not ignorant in the slightest, you've just chosen to completely misinterpret the simple point being made.

All the teams above (apart from Chelsea) were above us at the end of last season. We are not in Europe, so also Chelsea. But Chelsea are league
leaders, comparing like their players with ours, they have many star and better players than us. They also spent far more than us at the beginning

Chelsea last year & Leicester this year are hardly same.
FFS - our manager cried out loud to give his severance - so that he can go to a better paying job.

Leicester are doing as expected. Their fans are morons who want Ranieri gone - very few want him gone.

Same with Klopp - doing as expected. Around 4th - which is what everyone expected - very few want him gone.

I've seen the crap the Liverpool twitterati have been throwing at FSG last few days and it just sounds like spoilt babies.

These so called leaked emails (they weren't they were released as part of a court case) show nothing we didn't already know. FSG jumped at getting what should be and now under them is a successful commercial venture at bargain price.

I was incredibly unhappy with how transfers were handled during the Rodgers tenure (not going into that debate again).

I can only believe what Klopp has said so far until he's proven false:

He has ultimate say on transfers.

He will only buy players he thinks are right for his squad.

Who's he brought?

Mane: what we needed...pace and skill.

Matip: what we needed..an improved CB.

Klavan: good enough as back up which is what he is supposed to be.

Winji: we were short in midfield and he's filled a hole.

Karius: not impressed with his start but he's young and I feel sorry for any keeper Migs included who sit behind our current defence and midfield.

Klopp also said he wanted to work with existing squad and see. Hes done that with mixed results but fair play in trying it first rather than a knee jerk merry-go-round once again which always results in a like fot like mediocrity.

I believe we need more pace and power in midfield and upfront...and in FB positions.

We have plenty of hard workers, plenty of tippy tappy players...but these need some pace and power to give them space to do their magic.

Henderson, Lucas and Can are not the players to do it. Milner is not on the right side to be effective even with his usual hardwork. Clyne has no end product going forward.

So far he has done what he said he would do. Now I'm interested in who he brings in over the summer.

As for league position. I still think we are competitive for CL places. But we all thought that it would be a hard competition this year between 6 teams and so it turned out. I fully expect there could be as little as 3-5 points between 2nd and 6th by the end.

He's very well placed this season especially against the level of competition.

One bad run - he needs to get out of it and I'm confident he will. He still has a lot of deadwood to shift. I do hope he makes better use of the January windows in future - I could be wrong but I think the Jan window in Germany isn't that widely used so I think Klopp needs to adapt. Because we can't wait until the summer each year to improve. Should always be looking.

FSG have done a good job in getting us one of the best managers in the world and improving the club off the pitch.

They have backed managers and spent big on players - it's not their fault that they were able to recoup a lot of money from sales.

One criticism I do have is that I would like them to be more aggressive when landing targets. We've missed out on quite a few, and we're happy to accept 'no' whenever a club tells us to do one. For the right player, I have no doubt we will pay the fee but I feel that we shy away from the wages. It's understandable and prudent management but sometimes we just have to Be aggressive.

Yeah I agree - no point buying a lesser quality winger in January if you're going to land up number 1 target in the summer.

However, how often do we land the number 1 target - it's worrying. Brandt is apparently the player Klopp wants but come the time, he'll go somewhere else. This is where I'm saying that we need to be more aggressive.

We can't pay city Chelsea type wages and I'm all for performance related pay but make it bloody attractive. Coutinho deal is promising...played well (until he got it lol) what's he on now 200k?

Make it a quicker process or part of original deal..if player performs in first 6 months he gets the upgrade without another set of negotiations...

Yeah it's the wages that kill us. Without that, we're relying on Klopp, the club history. Without CL, we will be left behind.

We simply have to get CL and that will provide Klopp with the springboard to attract and sign the targets.

Still pains me to think what would have happened had won the EL last summer.

All this talk about Klopp under pressure is clearly ridiculous. If there is any pressure it is the pressure he puts on himself. there is no pressure from the owners, or fans.

What worries me slightly is that he's raised expectations this season. While many expected an improvement from last season, few expected that blistering start to the season with us beating the top favourites and leading the table. We were even expecting at some stage to be in the title chase. And we had almost taken 4th for granted. If we miss out on CL never mind the Europa it will be a bitter disappointment for many.

Even then I don't think Klopp's position will be under pressure but disappointment and expectations do funny things to fans. Just look at Leicester and you think "how is it even possible they are talking about sacking the manager they should build a statue for outside their stadium"?
