Full of pace and working hard is all well and good but when we're a Championship team looking at in the next few years being a Premiership team, do we really want to sign someone who couldn't score in a league one brothel?
Adkins was confident that we were signing someone a little while ago, now he's being more circumspect. Think we lost a couple, now we are searching about and being linked with every non-Prem player who isn't nailed down. Think after Chamberlain's sale the prices have gone up as well. Nigel has also mentioned recently the loan period that opens after the sale window, so think this thread is going to run and run.
No matter how you sugar coat it, S E B is hardly prolific. If we compare players to theire form of a few years back why don't we try and sign Robbie fowler,James Beattie etc and we could name more i'm sure.
The Premiership is the best league in the world and he's finally starting to get going in it. 7 goals for a striker who was hardly first choice last season is still not bad.
The total itself isn't too bad. But his general play, compared with the way the goals were for the most part put on a plate by Matt Jarvis, wasn't exactly great. Still, like I said, certainly warming to the idea.
Has a record of performing in the level we are at, he's at a good age. In fitting with 5 year plan we have 3 years to go up, making SEB 28 by the end of those 3 years. You're just being silly talking about Fowler and co. and throwing your rattle out of your pram trying to make a point which really does not have much sense behind it.
His point was more, "We can't sign SEB because he was prolific a few seasons ago, Robbie Fowler and James Beattie were prolific a few seasons ago too."
some guy on twitter who seems to be itk (predicted the derbyshire transfer to forest, chambo to arsenal and enrique to lpool a while before others did) has said that he just put a bet on saints to win champ and that we will see soon. i'm thinking a few quality signings coming in
The fact that if he came, he'd probably think he was the most important player due to his previous career and will also probably expect to start every game - he's not the type of character or player we want at all
why would we buy e/b?? yes he scored a while ago but has dried up since and in any case wouldnt we want to buy someone who has the ability to step up into the prem? not someone who has PROVED that he cant really cut it in the prem. oh and Zoko? we are supposed to be adding quality to our squad, not buying back-ups. the whole point of progression is to buy quality that will see the ones who dont step up fade out. only once you hit the top of the pile do you add backups to the best you can buy.
Some Bristol City fan asked FootbalAgent46 on twitter if Saints were about to sign Maynard...his reply was "They want another striker, easy to say, Maynard isnt top of the list due to injuries but of course he is on it." Interesting, a different ST at the top of NA wanted list then perhaps..
