Not sure why you have posted this but he a quality left-back, something we havent got. I see they are even trying to replace him swiftly with that PSV bloke, makes me wonder why the hell Bruce hasnt bought a good left-back yet, I'm sure the left flank will be the death of Bruce if we have a poor first half of the season.
champion it just gets better and better for the poor lads up the road!! but they will probably say it wont weaken there team any, because he wasnt that good anyway..
that's just considerably weakened their team and the dutch left back they're after was dropped last week after a 3-1 defeat lol
It'll weaken our team, but not so much if we bring in a quality replacement like Pieters. Jose was a good player but far from perfect (his lack of concentration at times was incredibly dangerous actually), so we can find a good replacement. Obviously, if we don't bring in a replacement then yeah, we'll be in some trouble. Yeah that's just completely untrue.
I do think he is a good LB & i agree with inbrucewetrust is something we are missing. I hope it does not come back to haunt us that we have not signed a proven LB. TBH i cant understand what is happening to our dear friends up the road. They did well last season better than most of them would admit to & Ashley seems to be ripping them apart. Not that i really give a **** what happens to them but it just makes me realize more & more how lucky we are to have ES & NQ running our club.
Do you actually believe what you have just wrote? Getting rid of one of the top l/b in the league, from your team, is gonna be a helluva loss. You've no idea how a new one could be like. Just admit it sometimes, your gutted that some of your best players are deserting you, your in a small minority if you don't think this will have a devastating effect on your team.
I see the Skunk Skulker didn't let us down...He was on like a shot when one of 'their' players was mentioned! Regarding the strengths and weaknesses of our enemy, I think I will reserve judgement for a week and a bit: just in case...
Two out of three pundits on Five Live's Monday night show tipped Newcastle to go down. They're an even better bet now.
Pieter's aint a quality replacement, if you wan't a young dutch LB Van Aanholt is a much better prospect.
Liverpool have been slated for paying over the odds for players so far. If it's true that they are picking up Enrique for 5.5 - 6 million then that's an absolute steal in todays climate for a quality left back (lets face it they're a rare breed!)
You didn't watch Enrique like us mags did. The problem with Enrique is his attacking. He's an absolute rock solid left back, I don't doubt that, but when he comes forward his concentration wavers. There were a few times last season when he was out on the wing and pretty much passed the ball right through the middle of the pitch just next to our goal with loads of opposition players looming around. It only took one to get a hold of it and it would have been an easy goal. To be honest I'm amazed it never happened. He's rock solid at left back duties, but I don't even think he had any assists or goals last season, so he's not as vital as someone like Leighton Baines would be, for example. If we can find someone who just stops attackers getting through down the left, it should adequately fill the void. He doesn't need to be magic. It'll be devastating if we don't replace him, but if we do with someone who is even two thirds as good, I'll be happy. Pieters is that man if we can get him. He's the first choice left-back for Holland, which says enough imo. Solid player. Anyway, I don't know why the hell people think he's so vital if they consider him one of the best LB's in the league. PLENTY of other teams do just fine in the EPL with very average EPL-standard left backs, so why are we suddenly doomed to failure if we lose one of the best ones? I'd understand if the rest of our starting 11 was ****ing crap and Enrique was the only top player keeping us up (like N'Zogbia for Wigan) but that's far from the case. Sell him on, and as long as we bring in someone who can be a solid left back, I'll be content. I'd much rather keep Enrique, but hey ho.
Any of you other Mags on here like to give us your honest opinion............as well... Surely some must be gutted if he goes.
Commachio, of course it'll be a massive loss, but we can't argue with money.I've said it before and I'll say it again if the super rich clubs want players, they can have them. I'm gutted that he's leaving, but I've resigned myself to this ever since he started becoming one of our best players. If Gyan has an absolute barnstormer of a season but Sunderland don't reach Europe, he'll be off. You may disagree, but when Spurs, Liverpool or Chelsea come in offering him double wages and a £1m signing on fee, he'll lose interest in Sunderland, much in the same way Enrique has with us. You'd have to be a complete idiot not to see he lost interest towards the end of the season and it showed in his football from time to time. Teams like ours are stuck in endless cycles of replacing our best players. Whilst we both have billionaire owners, they're not prepared to put the same sort of money into the clubs that the likes of Mansour, Abramovich or Henry are. And for that reason, we'll never compete with them.
one of the best left backs in the league although as chappaz has said he lost his concentration and it did help having jonas in front of him i don't know if he'll have that at Liverpool. as long as we bring in a solid replacement then i wont be as bothered, as any fan that didn't think he was going this summer was deluded.
First choice for Holland is good enough for you? His only competition is Wilfred Bouma who is old and was never good to start with. LB has been their weak spot for year's and still is.
Yet again, i find it impossible to argue with anything you have wrote........stop doing this to me. Gutted in a strange way, as now i'll have to change my ff team.
