Sport Witness had this to say about Dijks: "De Telegraaf report on Wednesday afternoon that Norwich City are in talks to sign Mitchell Dijks from Eredivisie side Ajax. The Dutch newspaper explain that Newcastle United and Leicester City have also been interested in the player, believing he has the right qualities to succeed in English football. The 23 year old is a left footed central defender who can also play at left back, his Ajax contract runs until June 2018, putting the club under at least a little pressure to sell. De Telegraaf say Ajax have confirmed the talks with Norwich, which would suggest things are at an advanced stage. Dijks may prefer the Norwich option, because he’d stand a better chance of imposing himself than at Newcastle or Leicester." Looks good, especially if we pip Leicester and Newcastle to him.
My earlier wish could come true then! If we get both of them, I'd be far, far happier with our defence! Pinto, Klose, Dijks, Zeegelaar Would be class for the Chumpionship!
All would have that potential. Would be exciting. Unfortunately, I doubt we will sign either of them and he'll probably sell Klose.
The Irish Times seems to think Burnley could still make another bid for Brady: http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/soc...-choose-burnley-over-crystal-palace-1.2951401 Could be interesting.
Zeegelaar looks far from certain so I am beginning to think that he also has his eyes on another club. Being in 10th position in the second tier of EFL will no doubt be a brake on their ambitions.
"'The feeling should be 100% and it was not. A club like Norwich doesn't deserve 90%.'" **** it, at this point i'd take 70% if it means we actually get some players in....
Ha, I was hoping that as he had flown in for talks, that it was almost a 'done deal'. As the article says, let's hope AN has another 'ace up his sleeve'!!!!!!
Shades of Virgil van Dijk and Ola Toivonen really. You have to go for top players to try to bring them in. You win some and you lose some. Others will come in instead, but I'm still hopeful about Zeegelaar.
You know how it goes. We leave it till the last minute, sell our best players and panic buy a load of rubbish. It doesn't even surprise me anymore. It's the NCFC way. We haven't started begging premier league teams for loans of their injured/young/out of favour players yet.
There will also be a statement saying something like "we don't need to bring anyone in and I am happy to, go with what we've got". This means "everyone we have approached has either turned us down or we've tried to be cheap skates and I'm stuck with Whittaker and co".
