Unless there's special terminology I'm missing? To lay a bet is to bet on an outcome. Which he said was us to go down.
EDIT: looks like it is a terminology thing. Which I attempted to get clarified after clearly misinterpreting what he initially meant. Not sure I argued black is white or anything of the sort.

The problem is, maybe Bruce did know it wasn't good enough, but it was a team he built! If you said to me 'give me 30mil to spend and I'll make a decent team' and then get relagated. And then a year later your saying to me 'give me 30mil and I'll make a decent team' then I'd be a little reluctant to give you it!
Also please explain why we are bolloxed?

I agree about Bruce. Never thought he got the best out of what he had and IF we had a football person running the club changes would have been made in a more thoughtful and planned way with a long term strategy.
