What is the step-by-step procedure in the settings section, to add an image to the avatar window ?

I just keep getting the same message telling me it's invalid.

Is it because I'm a new member ?
 
no mate its not cos your a member..

you need to make sure the picture file sizeis no more than 9 k or so many pixels... just keep trying images untill you get one that fots. alternatly you could use a program to help reduce image sizes although my knowledge in that field is limited,

Good software for resizing images is Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/ this is an image viewer that does much more it will play videos and allows you to get all details of any file.
This is very good software that has been around a long time and it's FREE, and no spyware!

Find the picture you want as your Avatar ( Google is your friend just type into the search box what you fancy a picture of. )save it open it in Irfan in the menus go to resize image and resize to 80x80 pixels.
Save the resized image, open settings on the forum on the left go to Edit Avatar then upload the saved image.
 
If you download Irfanview don't forget to download the plugins on the same link, I haven't found a filetype it has failed with yet. <ok>
 
Hello everyone. JDSAFC has made the jump to this site now. Unfortunately this can't be accessed at work, but I'm going to get made redundant in a week or 2, so its a temporary problem.

Rackem try copying the picture as a bitmap (bmp) . Use CTRL C, if from a website and then paste to your PC. I just did that earlier and it reduces the size dramatically
 
Hello all. Still trying to work out how this thing works because I'm not techie at all! Hopefully get to grips soon as everyone seems very excited about a proper forum. Shame 606 is dead but hey, it's a brave new world, no?

Hi all. How is everyone liking this forum? I hope its better than SMB because the average IQ on that thing has dropped so fast in the last 12 months.

Looking forward to some actual reasoned football debate rather than random petty arguments.
