I noticed quite a few people are still having problems. Perhaps a thread where you can post your problems and other members can help! We could keep all queries in one place and the answers given will aid newcomers. I'm pretty knowledgeable about computers, no expert but know my way around. So any forum or computing problems stick them in here. Don't forget there are no stupid questions only stupid answers.
I've posted this question on another topic. What is the step-by-step procedure in the settings section, to add an image to the avatar window ? I just keep getting the same message telling me it's invalid. Is it because I'm a new member ?
no mate its not cos your a member.. you need to make sure the picture file sizeis no more than 9 k or so many pixels... just keep trying images untill you get one that fots. alternatly you could use a program to help reduce image sizes although my knowledge in that field is limited, hope that helps
just google "reduce picture size", and you will get many simple free tools to use, e.g. www.photoconverter.co.uk Good tip is to have the photo you want to resize in a folder you can easily locate using the sites browser.
Good software for resizing images is Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/ this is an image viewer that does much more it will play videos and allows you to get all details of any file. This is very good software that has been around a long time and it's FREE, and no spyware! Find the picture you want as your Avatar ( Google is your friend just type into the search box what you fancy a picture of. )save it open it in Irfan in the menus go to resize image and resize to 80x80 pixels. Save the resized image, open settings on the forum on the left go to Edit Avatar then upload the saved image.
If you download Irfanview don't forget to download the plugins on the same link, I haven't found a filetype it has failed with yet.

Rackem try copying the picture as a bitmap (bmp) . Use CTRL C, if from a website and then paste to your PC. I just did that earlier and it reduces the size dramatically
Chats, go to your profile page, settings and edit signiture. A text box comes up and whatever you type in there becomes your signiture on all your posts
