I think it was Dalian Atkinson who did actually say, "If I hadn't left Ipswich, I wouldn't be where I am today"
And the classic David Coleman comment, :- "And if that had gone in the net, it would have been a goal" Yes David, that's the usual outcome, provided of course Clattenberg wasn't refereeing!
I vaguely recall a Merseyside derby where Pleat said something along the lines of: "This would be a good game for Everton if Liverpool weren't winning" In any event, looks as though Mr Ranieri belongs to the same school of thought.
I hope Lamela is back for the Citeh game. He is our most ferocious MF presser, and the Citeh MF cannot handle it.
I really hope city defend like this against us. Can noy believe that this city team spent over £160m to be this ineffective
It's endemic through the club. Even the supporters say that winning the title would make relegation irrelevant after. They just feel that winning the title means job done and they don't care what happens next.
I was thinking about this the other day. Being as it seems that 3-4-2-1 has become our new Plan A, where would Lamela fit in anymore? I think the starting XI against Chelsea and yesterday is the best possible combination of players, with the best possible formation to bring the best out in them. Rose and Walker are impossible to deal with, the 3 CB's are mobile enough and comfortable enough with the ball to cover the flanks, the central areas are bossed by Vic and Moussa, and Eriksen & Alli are revelling in their new found 'free' roles of drifting across the entire width of the pitch wreaking havoc. As much as I love Lamela, he doesn't fit in this team and, it hurts me to say this, isn't really an 'impact sub' in the same sense as Son or GKN. He doesn't strike me as the type to moan about being dropped, but it won't be the first time that a player picked up a mid-long term injury and by the time they came back the train had already departed and the entire squad moved on. Happened to Jenas, happened to Mason. I hope it doesn't happen to good old Coco.
We have to. Pep has no idea how to deal with it. Teams in Spain and Germany were too busy changing their underwear to go gung-ho against Bayern and Barca. Welcome to England Sen. Guardiola, where not a single **** is given.
Remember when it was assumed the title race would be Guardiola vs Moronho? By the looks of it, Everton don't.
This score holds, we can put some distance to City if we beat them next week. We look the better team currently.
