Enjoyable first half. Old school blood and thunder kind of game. Very open and Southampton enjoying some sustained possession. Redmond has been good and you can see why Long was selected today. Tadic not quite getting his finishing right but finding space and getting involved. If we can score first it looks like we should win but you never know!
Missed the first 10 or 15 mins but we seem to be doing the usual - playing pretty well and missing decent chances. If the game continues to go as ours often do we'll concede in the first 10 mins of the second half. Let's just hope we get some variation.
Burnley doing what they need to do to stay up. Perhaps Dyche thought they were a little soft last time they were up.
Open game. Yoshi isolated against Gray at times though. We've not really got it going in attack but they're ****e. We keep giving the ball away, poor passing/poor control, can't remember the last time our ball retention was this bad. We can easily beat this lot if we get it together in the second half
If FF manages to save the first attempt on target we should be all right... ... that's the hard bit however!
Yeah, really frustrating. It's been four years since he was introduced to the senior squad, yet the progress he made in that time is minimal.
To be honest our crossing has been terrible, and we still don't really have anyone getting into the box. Long is running the channel, ending up out on the wing, leaving empty space in their box. Can't complain too much as we are playing well, but it's still not great. Can't wait for Austin to recover.
I wouldn't at all be surprised if this turned into another Everton game. A relatively underwhelming game, where the side who score first go on and win comfortably. Just hopefully that is us this time.
According to the BBC, we have had 57% possession, 9 shots (2 for Burnley) but only the JWP header on target.
Burnley relying on free kicks and corners to build pressure. In open play they rely on humping it up the pitch and hoping
