It was certainly evident that Pawel did not shirk defensive duties and gave Darnell some good cover. I reckon he covered most of the right half of the pitch and was effective everywhere - a great individual performance within the overall team effort

IT’S BEEN A phenomenal few weeks for QPR youngster Ryan Manning.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who was bought from Galway United in 2015, made his third league start for the Championship club, havingimpressed in previous appearances.

Having not got a look in under previous boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, new manager Ian Holloway handed the Irish youngster his senior debut against Wolves on 31 December.

Manning made his third start tonight, and QPR consequently secured their third win with him in the team.

Moreover, he played an important role in the winning goal amid an impressive 1-0 victory over third-place Reading, producing a clever through ball for Jamie Mackie to slot home the winner.

The result brings QPR up to 15th, and continues their rejuvenation under Holloway.

Manning has played for Ireland at underage level, and if he can keep up his current level of performance, he could certainly earn caps at senior level in future.

Meanwhile, Reading also had a talented Irish youngster in their side, with 21-year-old Liam Kelly making his 16th appearance in all competions for Jaap Stam’s team and completing 90 minutes.

Manning's arrival in our team and his performances are not going unnoticed over here. I was out working Thursday night and the lads on Newstalk were purring about his pass for Mackie's goal and kept mentioning it was our third win on the spin with Manning in the team. Bit early to be talking about a Senior international call up but I wouldn't be surprised to see him getting an under 21 call up sooner rather than later.

The annoying thing was that the Sky Co-Commentator said that it was a "bit fortuitous that the ball got to Mackie" and didn't alter his comments even after seeing the replay........it was a thing of beauty and if Rooney, Kane, Messi, Ronaldo, Ibrahimavic, Hazard etc etc had played that sort of pass we wouldn't hear the last of it......

Một trận đấu tuyệt vời của các cầu thủ. Bàn thắng được ghi do công bởi Mackie, nhưng không thể không nhắc tới đường kiến tạo nhạy cảm của cầu thủ trẻ Ryan Manning. #COYRS

Barton on the bench for Burnley. Some would say, the best place for him. Others would say, his comeback is almost complete.

Meant to post this on the "today's games" thread. Apologies.

Interesting statistics. On home games only we would be in relegation zone.

    Agreed.

I thought the lad did pretty well from the bit of stream I saw, did well in combination with Pawel Wszolek.

    Well done Furlong.

Thanks, Norway, you're right, it was Beerens I had in mind

My mistake, it was Beerens I was referring to on their left, as Norway pointed out.

I'd say that Furlong was significantly better than any player Reading had down their left, nullified most threats and only let crosses come in during that last 20 minutes or so when he tired a bit and we dropped deeper and played more narrowly.

Our right dominated the game and so I can't see that the Reading left side warrant any credit.

Kelly looked handy for them and McCleary looked dangerous but they forgot to give him the ball.
