The first was a hard call. Easy on a replay, but not in real time.

In fact I thought he was offside, because it would be considered the same phase - but he wasn't even offside to start with. But I agree, very tough. But if he calls that surely he calls Mata who he must have at least perceived to be as offside as Dio (seeing as Mata actually was offside)?

Probably thought he would be get the job on SKY with the Man Utd Supporters Club chairman Phil Neville commenting on the game but Phelan got the gig instead.
Someone said Mike Phelan is nearing 70 ? Surely he's older than that ?

PN's comentary was way beyond annoying. The wife gave me a proper bollocking for swearing.

Phelan is an old 54.

Incorrect offside decisions were definitively proved as incorrect (both of them).
Strange that isn't it - Man U getting both incorrect decision in their favour eh?
Surprisingly little being made of these 2 errors.
When your lucks down eh.

nothing to do with luck - the football authorities are determined to get their Man U /Liverpool final for international tv exposure - two warm balls, two cold balls in the bag to make sure Liverpool and Man U apart for the semis - then officials assist as and when with close decisions to make sure the right result happens - the two 'offsides' are good examples - in the last 15 minutes the ref gave Man U every silly free kick possible to try and make sure they didn't come to the KCom with only a 1 goal lead - I was just hoping no-one slightly touched one of their divers in the penalty area because you could bet your house on a penalty - I can guarantee we will not get the rub of the green if we score first in the second leg

Bang on that CTF... no mention of the same linesman who had obviously been told at half time that he'd made a rick not giving Mata off..

Yes, just about everyone would agree ... when he's in that silly mood. But ... the abuse he almost incessantly receives on here -- even when he posts something sensible or even interesting -- is quite shameful. If he annoys you that much, put him on ignore, or just scroll past his posts.
When you've been on here a little bit longer, you'll start to realize that there's a smallish clique of bad boys ("turds of a feather") who try to impose their will on others. Some very good, long-time posters have recently left the board, partly, but certainly not entirely, because of their bully-boy behaviour. You'll find that this sad little rat-pack frequently try to get the mods to ban or suspend people who stand up to them. It's really quite pathetic, and leaves a nasty taste in one's mouth.

Posters who piss off a large amount of posters need to take a look at themselves, rather than squealing victim (or clique attacks) all the time.

Nobody starts of on here disliking another poster, posters who become unpopular, do so because of what they post, or the manner in which they post.

The real issue, is that those people always refuse to accept any responsibility for their posting style, so never do anything to remedy the situation.

Mike Phelan played for Burnley that day in 83 when we hammered them 4-1 first game of the season, when we'd just come up from div 4 and they'd just come down from div 2.

He may well have played that night at Turf Moor when we just failed to come up.
