The way that public transport is structured in this country is uniquely British. Ultimately though, if you want fewer people in cars then make using a car more expensive (or at least more expensive when it is contributing to delays and congestion) - making the alternatives more attractive only gets us so far.
But there aren't any votes in charging motorists, and there is no long term transport plan in this country that overrides the electoral cycle.
If City are playing in London, I'd much rather travel there by train than in a car, for comfort. And it must be a lot better for the environment if everyone did that. Yet financially you're dissuaded from doing so, because for some reason rail tickets are hideously expensive. Some of the pricing arrangements are just plain bizarre, such as the 'split ticketing' situation where you can save loads by buying two or more separate tickets for the exact same train service (for argument's sake Hull to Selby and then Selby to London; you're not even getting off the train, just by buying two separate tickets you can save a lot).

No there are many on here that I'd enjoy an away day with Ben, at the end of the day we all want what's best for City.
