The name always drags my thoughts back to this unspeakably annoying character from my kids' younger years

I ****ing hate that dinosaur to an irrationally enormous degree.

It's the happy-clappy tw*t with the drawly voice inside the suit that makes Barney so irritating. Nauseating.

That and in the show his leggings don't meet his feet. How can his legs not fit FFS?

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Sorry. It's just a minor compulsion. Where's my blue blanket?

When and how did Eastbourne Borough FC originate NSMEB? I was brought up in Lewes, just up the road from you and in the early sixties there were to teams in Eastbourne, Eastbourne Town, who played near the cricket ground and Eastbourne United who played at Princes Park. I had never head of Eastbourne Borough then. Eastbourne United were always the better team and if I recall went from the Athenian League up to the Isthmian League. Town always played in the Sussex County League. Did the two teams combine to form Borough or what?

They were actually formed in 1964 as Langney Sports (Langney being an area of Eastbourne..... a bit rough and lots of tinted windowed BMW owners live there <whistle>) but changed their name in the 1990s after a rise through the divisions. Did look to merge with one of the other many teams in the town but fans moaned and it never happened. Stupid number of teams in a town of just 100,000 - Eastbourne Borough, Town, United and I think also Athletic and Shinewater.

Fun Fact: I used to be terrified of Barney the Dinosaur. Terrifying purple ****er that he is.

I was trying to remember who Colonel Gadaffi (one of the original mods on here...) changed their name to. Always wondered why that name came about, though the lure of absolute and eternal power is completely understandable.

I think he just picked the name of the nastiest dictator he could think of . <laugh>

When my kids were a lot younger we bought an in-car DVD. One of the best few hundred pounds I ever spent. We went on regular trips to Poitiers to see friends who bought a grand pile out there. The girls would sit happily for hours watching stuff. I don't think I ever heard "Are we there yet?"

The only problem was that the youngest couldn't deal with headphones, so we'd be able to hear whatever they were watching. Cruella, my mother-in-law, bought the kids some Barney videos. They loved them more than anything else on earth. After their first airing, they got lost somewhere...never to be seen ever again.
