I'm not sure whether that was partly driven by the events during the summer and the camaraderie and bravado they'd built whilst expectations by everyone outside the club were pretty low. We were supposed to beat the all time PL low points tally set by Derby. That carried them for the first few games, then the rot set in. Davies looked like a world beater in those early games, now he just looks beaten.
But the performances were excellent, Davis played well with Davis and (Cup) Maguire. Dawson is excellent, but in partnership with Davis it is just dysfunctional at times.
I don't disagree. Individually they work well. As a unit they look a disaster. Is it too many cooks syndrome? They each pass responsibility, therefore not one addresses the threat? Early season form was I'm sure down to the fact that they'd built a resolve - like new manager syndrome where the positive results are often short lived. I'm hoping Silva has a similar impact - if we could get 3 wins early on - it makes the remaining games interesting. If not, it will be like our dour time under Dowie.
His first run of games are against the top teams, if he can get 3 wins there I'd back him to turn water to wine
Jay Silverheels was born just up the road from Toronto in a place called Brantford. He must have liked shorter names for marketing reasons
For me he can use the cup games to experiment with the side. The real value is maintaining league status. I really aren't interested in the cups this year. Hope he uses the 3 matches wisely, as a training experimental opportunity when league points aren't at risk. Bollocks to progressing.
I think in the first games this season, the players had more of a free hand to do what they felt was right and once he had the job on permanent, Mike Phelan introduced a more zonal method. Players had to keep to the plan even if it was not working.
Before the end of Feb we've got Bournemouth, Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea and arsenal. Which 3 games do you fancy glp?
