Its a step in the right direction appointing a director of football
Annnnnybody but ehab directing us at least the tits realised he hasnt a clue and is out his depth
Gary rowett for me is an improvement on phelan
Good upcoming manager who turned birmingham into a playoff contender on minimal budget

Could be worse we could of got brad bobley
Or gianfranco cant manage zola

The thing with rowett he did his reputation no harm at all at birmingham could quite easily land another job, so he must have some guarentees regarding transfer budget/control of signings etc or you wouldnt touch the job with a barge pole

Yes im very optimistic i hear you say

Sounds like it will be Rowett, who I think is a good manager and good choice.

Lucky for Ehab that he's linked to a friend, doubt anyone else of pedigree would have taken him seriously.

Tough job to keep us up this season, but let's just remember that there are people on this forum who insist that we do have a squad good enough to stay up easily, so I hope they hold him to the same standards they held Phelan. Fair's fair.

Anyone remember why this Robinson bloke left last time around?

He was brought in as a coach a few years ago and didn't seem to do anything apart from piss Bruce off by running off to Ehab behind his back. He tried to stop the signing of Alex and SB eventually insisted we got shot of him if I recall correctly.

He seems like the exact kind of slimeball this club doesn't need any more of. Typical Ehab appointment though.

"Daddy, there was a lad at school who liked football, shall I give him a call?"

They are wrong.
Strikers not good enough, and not enough options for plan b's.
And problems at right back.
At least 3 short of a squad capable of staying up, and that assumes all key players stay fit.
Hopefully they are selling any day now. or else they are bringing someone in to replace Phelan that they trust with their money during January.

If that's true, then he was right, and at least he tried to do something about it. Bruce looking after Alex like he did was plain wrong. Chester sold, McShane and Rosenior released. AB retained. Stunk from the start. And that's not meant as a dig at AB's ability; decent enough CCC player.

Is there really any chance the Allams will make an appointment with any useful time left in the window ...? Seems a ridiculous decision to wait so long ,
I can only, assume all suitors were waiting for the Swansea decision to be announced -

I wonder what They will announce befor our cup game !!

Congratulations mate .. had three grandkids already myself but still awaiting a first grandson .. but wouldn't swap what I have for the world
I've got 3 daughters and 1 granddaughter so this is a real first.

On topic, the hysteria on Twitter is bemusing. Phelan a hero? GTF.

ANs predicably overly dramatic response to someone putting 12 instead of 1 on the press release is more than a little embarrassing.

And I can't remember a single time the Director of Football role working.

I do feel for Mike Phelan, he was dealt a bad hand. He didn't get to sign players he wanted, as let's be honest the players brought in where players we where targeting before he was appointed. We don't have a decent striker, and our players keep making individual errors. It is hard to see how you can blame him for players making constant individual errors, e.g. Clucas standing behind the line, he has nothing to do with that.

Do I think Phelan was a top manager? No. Will his replacement be ten times better than him and suddenly turn us into a team good enough to stay up? Very unlikely.

At some point the players need to take responsibility, and this is an issue throughout football not just our club. Players get paid a small fortune, and barely ever get held to account, yet managers do.

All I can hope for is Ehab appoints an experienced manager and gives him a budget to get the players we desperately need in.

You might as well right this season off. If the chairmen had any sense he'd bring in a manager that knows the Championship and start building for that and the future rather than big prima donnas on loan. Rowett should be ok.

Overseas TV money alone was £5.1B over 3 years (£1.7B a year) when new deals were announced early-mid last year, this being the first year of them.
Overseas TV money is split evenly between all clubs (£85M each for the year, only the domestic money is based on finishing position/moved for tv games etc)
£85M early-mid last year was before the pound devalued. Using $ as the average currency (as US deal is also one of biggest) that value is now £105M.

Unless something dodgy is going on we're getting over £100M from foreign tv deals alone. That's without all the domestic tv and prize money.

Here's my source, says overseas money is around £47 million per club.
