The Scousers dropping points is good news. Their next PL game is a interesting one.

We all need Chelsea to drop some points now. With Spurs and Liverpool away before the end of the month, here's hoping.....(Leicester away too; can they repeat their performance v City?)

Looking for 0-0 at HRMC stadium tonight, with three off from each team following a mass brawl.

That may well be one of the worst red card decisions I've ever seen in the United-West Ham game. Horrendous decision from Mike Dean.

Another one of those decisions. 50/50 ball, both players sliding in, neither with studs raised. Feghouli was that split second slower as he'd overrun the ball.

West Ham are now calling for a card every time a United player makes a foul. You can understand why they're so pissed off because, if anything, despite Feghouli's poor touch, Jones fouled him. But because the former came off worse and rolled around a bit, the Algerian gets sent his marching orders <doh>.

    Joke of a red card.

Lottery? Are you kidding? A yellow card you could perhaps understand (though I still think that would have been harsh), but if you're giving a red for that, football may as well become a non-contact sport.

The decision making is a lottery. One day, that's no foul; the next it's a red card.

I hope this isn't the start of another wave of pro-Maureen refereeing.

You're right, but what I'm saying is it shouldn't be the case where a genuine attempt to get the ball in a 50-50 challenge should be viewed as being an instant red card by any official. How does the referee come to that conclusion when he had a pretty clear view of it? I'll be amazed if it doesn't get rescinded because everyone in the stadium was stunned that Feghouli got sent off.

Wouldn't go that far, as I've seen far, far worse, but it's never a red.
Feghouli's late and he does jump into it a bit, which is why Dean's sent him off.
It's a yellow, for me. Not even one that's close to being a red, though.

Is it me or has Neville's commentary been rather more pro-United since his return?
He's still better than most, but he seems more openly in favour of his old side.

West Ham have actually played pretty well considering the circumstances, with Lanzini, Payet and Antonio looking menacing on the counter, but I'm not sure if they will be able to withstand the inevitable barrage of attacks from United in the second half.

As I watched it, I thought Jones was in trouble when there was mention of a red. He tends to throw his body into these challenges - and he's a big lad so the potential for harm is quite high. Had he been a fraction slower then Feghouli, rather than quicker, he'd have been seen as the offender.

The justification for the red will be that Feghouli just lunged for the ball and therefore "wasn't in control of his body". But neither was Jones. No player is when attempting that type of challenge, but there is never an issue over its legitimacy unless there is a collision where the other player is injured.

Mourinho will be furious at his side's reaction to the red.
They simply didn't step up and force the issue, meandering to half-time, instead.
Can't see them playing so slothfully in the second half, though.

  19. Seems that way. He certainly seemed to miss the fact that Valencia was 2 yards offside when Randolph made that brilliant Lloris-like save.
Feeling a bit sorry for the Spammers atm - and I haven't got a temperature or any other signs of delirium either <laugh>

Alan Smith and Niall Quinn bashing Mike Dean, because Arsenal don't like him. Funny that.
Bringing up the supposed mistake in our game with Southampton, that was 100% correct.
