Q:Which is the 2nd major country, after New Zealand, to receive the New Year?
A: Australia.? Japan.?

Nope, it's Russia. Took me back a little that one, and I thought I had a good handle on Geography [part of my degree o_O ]. That's one sprawling country and the reason I didn't win the pub quiz. Boo.!

Never mind. HNY2017 <cheers>

Interesting, I certainly wouldn't have gone for Russia either! Though now that I think about it, up the top Russia is really very close to Alaska. Geography was my degree too

Doesn't Russia have like 4 timezones? Remember reading something about it regarding the WC there.

Something a little more sit-up-and-take-notice... Brilliant Light Power actually gets on mainstream news a few hours ago in 2017. Now either the **** will hit the world economy fan or things might just start getting a little better with the prospect of cheaper, cleaner power. Or it doesn't work, of course. However, all the data and evidence suggests it does, but that doesn't convince some scientists who don't like their Einstein pulled out of shape:

EDIT: Sorry, did I say 'cleaner' up there.? Sorry, old habit as energy production has improved over the years. I meant 'clean and pollution free'.

Just noticed that we have to get rid of our round £1 coins by October when they will become illegal. I have a lovely fat little savings pot half full of the little buggers.....I was hoping to get to its maximum of £250 and buy a nice treat for me and a friend. Now I will have to smash it early....I doubt I will make the target by October as it was based on me putting money in if I didn't buy myself a cake. That isn't happening much these days.....it's not only the pot which is round and fat. :)
