Assistants: R West, A Halliday
Fourth official: N Swarbrick

I have to admit I'm not massively optimistic about this one. No VVD, back to back home losses for the first time in 2 years and a complete lack of goals. On the plus side I noticed Mark Clattenburg has been named the world's best referee. :)

My team would be:

Forster
Cedric, Fonte, Yoshida, Bertrand
Hojbjerg, Romeu JWP
Boufal Rodriguez Sims

Or, we play Forster and 10 defenders and put them all on Lukaku to get a 0-0 draw. :)

I would take a 0-0 draw in this one. With VVD out, that would be a very good result.

Anyway, big year ahead for Saints in 2017. Lets start by taking down Koeman and his bunch of Mersey tossers!

I'm saying the same 1-1 more out of hope than anything else. I so much hope that we don't save Koeman and give him a good drubbing to heap the pressure on but I just can't see us doing anything other than getting through this game. I so hope I am wrong and we smash 'em.

Hojbjerg is going through a bit of a bad patch at the moment (I wouldn't have waited the 5 minutes until WBA went in front to have subbed him today), so given Clasie's injury and the fact that Davis has started both matches so far, I wouldn't be totally surprised if Reed started this one. Although I'm still expecting Hojbjerg.

It's similar to today. If we put our best players out, and they perform well, then we can win (albeit no Virgil does make that more difficult). But right now you can't see them performing well.

Brave man who is going to predict this match.........The way Puel has got them playing at the moment ...........We are in for another hammering..........Buuuuuuut never underestimate the Saints!!!!

Match day at Goodison is a favourite of mine. Proper old ground (if you haven't been, go into the little church that forms one corner. Never seen a Saints fan in there, and they only serve coffee and tea - ah that's explains absence of Saints - but the banter is great). Great little chippy on the corner opposite this church. Love the walk to the ground through terraced streets that makes it feel like the 1950's.

It then goes pear shaped. In the ground you are stuck in a corner with a restricted view. They bombard you with films of famous victories to improve your mood. A 7-1 seems to be a favourite, so I'm guessing the grainy nature of the 8-0 doesn't translate to the big screen very well. And then to really **** up your day, the two teams come out and we get beaten regardless of how well we play.

It's Everton away. We shall be tonked. It is written!

I think we are going to have a random mixture of results this season....every time we reach for the knife to kill ourselves, Saints will give us a win to prolong the agony:oops: Still, happy days.....this could be the win. :) <------even the insane can smile.

We always lose at Goodson, we have been poor the last couple.. Which means that we're going to win this one. I can feel it in my loins.

The post Christmas schedule has been set up to test our character ... be prepared !!!

Already lost to ex-manager and to team that started time-wasting before kick-off

Now we play another ex-manager and then a two leg semi against the team who nick all our players

It could be tough, the question is ... Can you handle it? <wah>
