I don't think any clubs would have made a big push for him in the summer. I assume that the board believed in him, and wanted to tie him for for the long run. It wasn't too long ago he was being linked to jobs like Everton and Swansea etc. A lot dipped very quickly since those days though.No mention in the article as to whether he did this off his own bat or if Delia and MWJ were complicit and agreed with the decision. AN wont do the right thing and leave because of his self belief, and his feeling that walking away is failure. I don't think he would have pushed for a 2M bonus for getting us relegated. I don't think he's that vindictive.
