Absolutely, isn't it great! Don't forget, we also still have the Academy assembly line bringing on new young blood who can be used as occasional cover at any time, so we certainly don't need to spend any cash on squad players.
I really can't see us getting Maynard, is it 6mil+ they want for him? Thats crazy and he's not worth nearly half of our Oxo windfall I don't think. Jay Rod if we can get him for 3-4 mil would be a great buy but I expect they probably want more than that.
upson no way - yes he would be fantastic, but we he REALLY be worth the massive wages and will he have quite the hunger and desire that someone proving a point will? that said id probably sing from the rooftops if he actually joined - cant see that happening in a million years tho, he simply wont wanna drop outta the prem and will wait to get signed by a bottom half club that panics after 2 games in august most likely. or something like blackburn or bolton will lose samba/cahill and he will replace. as for maynard the figures banded around are £6m - to spend half the chambo cash on that would be ludicrous and our master negotiator NC wouldnt have it at all - im sure they have much better value options in the pipeline and i imagine things might have sped up in terms of recruitment now.
I think Carlton Cole is one of those players who has always under-delivered compared to his potential, but if he found the right club with the right manager and a positive team on the up (hint hint) then he does have all the ability to be easily a 20+ goal a season striker in the Championship. Wages would be a big problem though.
Jay R is a must (Maynard - well over priced & injury prone) Then some defenders - another CB and top full backs for both sides . We will score for fun but not convinced by our full backs at this level
Dark Lord, did you go Saturday? Frazer was immense, looks trim and fit; his defending was class. Harding also had a good game. This was against two of the best wingers in the league and if you listen to our Leeds friends, the best players outside the Prem!

A little Irony...although did not realise the deal was sealed today, but had heard they were close yesterday...certainly knew we never had a chance. Is Simon Cox someone we would be interested in?
