Just found out I've won a hamper at golf so will share it with the family, 11 of us, on Christmas day at my youngest Daughter's house. I'll let everyone have their favourite items except the beer, which is for me.

Don't worry, I had a full MOT at the Doctors recently...by some miracle I have literally nothing wrong with me (well medically anyway) Turns out gin and IPA* are health super foods
Don't use much salt, but you need it on veg (and chips)

*was in the bar in the Village hotel today and they have Goose Island IPA on draft!!!. Also have a nice Blue Point 'toasted' lager too
Likewise had full bloods done recently and said all ok apart from anaemic. Told them I'd just donated blood the week before which they'd not noted down, so hopefully a few iron tablets will sort.
Agree re. salt, but as never buy processed meals generally, find need salt on sandwiches and veg.

I'm sure corned beef is officially bad for your health by now but it doesn't half taste nice in a sandwich with mustard and tomato.
Remember get Corn beef Vienna rolls from Fletchers at junction of Jameson St/King Edward St with lashing of tomato ketchup and eating them sat round the fountain there. Helped me grow I'm sure.

Guinness...that'll sort your iron levels out

Parboil peeled potatoes, cut into equal-size pieces, for 6 mins in already-boiling water. Drain to a colander; shake vigorously to powder the outsides. Under no circumstances in this universe, add any flour; it's a heathen practice, but I must admit I've never tried it. Place in roasting tin containing smoking-hot mixture of olive oil, vegetable oil and butter. Roll quickly to coat every piece. Put in 450F oven for 25 mins. Remove and rotate each piece and put tin back in same oven for 15 mins. Repeat until uniformly DARK golden. Best roast potatoes ever. Seriously.

Bullshit.

Hard to believe today but, due to severe anaemia my wife was hospitalised days at a time during pregnancy in the 70's, she was given a bottle of Guinness every night as part of her treatment. Today's nanny generation would have a ducko.
My Great Grandma used to drink a bottle of Mackesons every day...she lived to 97 !

It's a great motto for City and a school (Trinity House?)
