It wants the best deal it can negotiate. A position some are doing their best to make more difficult.
What is that deal? They can't seem to agree between them as they keep contradicting each other and the PM's office keeps having to slap down her Three ****witeers.

That's hardly a position is it?

"We want the best deal and if we can't get that we want the second best". Genius.

So you'd start off with your ultimate position laid out? It's down hill from that point on, if it ever started, as on paper, they're the opposite of what some in the EU say they'll insist on

The trade groups and lobbyists will be doing the negotiations now. The government will be watching to see where they're headed.

No ****!

Joint call for EU citizens to stay in UK

Businesses and trade unions have called on Theresa May to guarantee immediately the right of EU citizens to stay in the UK after Brexit.

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), which represents companies with a combined workforce of five million people, and the TUC made the call in an open letter to the prime minister.

Failure to do so would damage the UK economy, the two bodies said.

Downing Street said Mrs May wanted to protect the status of EU nationals.

The bluntly-worded letter was jointly signed by TUC general secretary Frances O'Grady and BCC director-general Adam Marshall.

Teay!
Thats what everyone wants anyway, you muppet, do you ever read the news, or just snipe at everything?

If everybody wants it why does May not come out and say so? Instead she wants to use the futures of millions of UK citizens and their families living and working in the EU as a bargaining tool. Totally immoral but only to be expected from someone who really doesn't have a clue what she is doing or what she is going to do.

This ^

The thought that it's a negotiating chip is laughable, and demonstrates the level of idiocy that the 3 Stooges and May are taking to Brussels.

The most important negotiation since WWII and we're sending Larry, Curly and Moe.

May: Brexit means Brexit
EU Negotiator: What the **** does that mean?
May: A red, white and blue Brexit for a Brexit Britain
EU Negotiator: What the **** does that mean?
May: It means we want the best deal we can get
EU Negotiator: This is what we're prepared to offer
May: We'll take it
Johnson: No we won't
May: Yes we will
Davis: No we won't
May: Yes we will
Fox: No we won't
May: Yes we will, it's my party
Johnson, Davis and Fox: Well then we'll kick you out
May: And who will you replace me with?
Johnson, Davis and Fox: ME!
Miller: Me :azn:

Its a bargaining chip, she is waiting for the EU to make the move. She has said she wants them to stay.

French GE looks pretty tight.
If Le Pen wins, you can bet your arse France will be pushing for a Frexit Referendum.

Le Pen is a couple of points behind in the opinion polls, but as with all opinion polls in recent history, our last GE, Brexit, Donald Trump.
All had the right wing choice as behind, but they all ended up winning.
People in opinion polls rarely give their true opinions if they hold right wing views because they are ashamed of them, or fear backlash from left wing militants, so they will lie when asked.

People are getting pissed off with the crap we have now, so those in power need to listen and listen fast. The EU cant stay as it is and Brexit may cause it to collapse of a sorts, when the UK get its own deals with countries.

I do think some are under the impression that Brexit negotiations will be a couple of blokes in a room trying to get one over on each other.

It really won't. UK will put in formal A50 with terms for leaving. EU experts will go through it with a fine toothed comb and give a full response a few months later. Only then will items of dispute be discussed.

Which is why failing to make the exit plan clear now is stupid as it just reduces the time in which agreement can be reached.
