Bill Hick's is my all time favorite! Hilariously funny and not afraid to tackle the truths of his day. Dave Chappelle was genius as well before his melt down!
One of my all time favourites, most tv comedy now I just find it crap, I was laughing me head off watching The Grand Tour last week.
As a 70s babe my early memories of comedy include: Dave Allen Some Mothers Do Have Em 2 Ronnies Morcambe & Wise Monty Python (when I was allowed ) Steptoe and Son Fawlty Towers
Used to really enjoy little Britain but it hasn't dated well at all, I look back on it and wonder why I found it funny. The office is still great though. Bottom is a favourite. Anything with the Alan Partridge character in it. More modern would be the inbetweeners
I think the best sit com is probably Extras. So clever. Seinfeld was great and the writing in Fraser, (early) Cheers, and 3rd Rock from the Sun was very good. Stand up wise, Billy Connolly is the king. I also like Frankie Boyle, Peter Kay, Doug Stanhope, George Carlin, Omid Djalili, Rich Hall, loads of others really. Sketch shows: The classics from Morcambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies, Paul Whitehouse and of course Monty Python.
Match of the day when Sunderland lose, now that's really stood the test of time. I still piss myself.
Not big in this country, but Kids In The Hall is one of Canada's best comedy troupes: Not everything by them is great, but the Boosh do make a great character/sketch from time to time:
