Following references in the Christmas Lunch thread I thought it might be of interest to find out people's preferences comedy wise, sketch or programme. Sketch wise I think you have to go pretty far too beat anything with John Cleese in and my favourite was always in The Secret Policeman's Ball in "Michelangelo to see the Pope". It starts immediately after Neil Innes' song in video below at 1 hour 8 minutes 42 seconds. Two in one as one of my favourite comedy songs, if not the favourite, is from Neil Innes of Bonzo Dog Doo Da Band fame and also the Rutles for those old enough to remember. It starts at 1 hour 5 minutes 20 seconds on same video. Best written comedy series for me was Yes, Minister or its later versions Yes, Prime Minister. The actors were brilliant and the writing superb. Example below.
I think the best play of all time was that one about a father and his son going to watch Newcastle play in Lisbon - by the way Trev when is voting for Notts Forest Headline game? Liked early Blackadders and Yes Minister. Not as much good stuff now. Enjoy Rhod Gilberts stand-up shows.
Not the Nine O'Clock news The Fast Show That Mitchell and Webb Look So many I love. I do like a bit of Amy too And Curb your Enthusiasm
My favourite also. I always watch a few episodes or live shows on DVD over Christmas, the same old stuff keeps me laughing, usually Rik's facial expressions.
Morecambe and Wise - Andre Previn piano sketch and Shirley Bassey shoe sketch. Sorry can't post a link but both worth a watch if you haven't seen them.
