So did the players stand up and get counted last week against Brentford?

HE can't get them playing consistently week on week. He didn't pick the wrong team, he picked the wrong game plan/tactics!
Yesterday was one of those occasions, against a physical, hard working side intent on winning the midfield battles (which they achieved easily) that just cried out - screamed for Alex Tettey, had he been fit <whistle> or Mulumbu from the outset if not.
Not Dorrans type of game.

Thompson and Godfrey. Might have shown some passion and interest.

Compounded by the fact that Howson walked on water after his display last week. Yesterday, the same player in ostensibly the same role was slow, ponderous and wasteful.
Not sure how you legislate for that?

Good point Cromer and apparently AP had a bit of a 'mare as well after his star-studded performance of a week earlier!!!
I can see us battling for survival, NOT promotion!!!! <doh>

NOW you're talking - I think Thompson is injured isn't he????

Promotion is out of the question unless AN goes. Very soon. The players do not respond to him. Turns out that Brentford were worse than we thought last week, and I thought they were pretty damn bad...

But Scott Hogan scored twice for them yesterday.
Just goes to show what a magnificent job Bassong did to contain the little livewire last weekend <whistle>

Yes, it was mentioned in Friday's presser.
But do you seriously, for one minute think that he'd gt the nod ahead of 'teacher's Tett' if both were fit and available? No, me neither :(

Nearly ALL the games in this division are going to be like that and we've failed to understand and react to far to many. Perhaps Alex Neil's got blinkers on OR he's just not up to the job!

That would have gone against the 'recieved wisdom' on here that we didn't need a DM against Barnsley. Mulumbu was excellent in the second half, during which Barnsley only managed one shot off target. Howson improved a bit when he moved up behind the striker but it wasn't enough in the end. The performances of Oliveira and Mulumbu were the bright spots for me and I hope both start against Villa.

Sorry but if people are willing to accept repeated defeats to teams like Barnsley and not question changing manager then more fool them.

We have one of the strongest squads in the division and have only just come down. What's happeneing is just not acceptable and should not be allowed to become the norm.

Bassong admits that the team went through the motions in the first half. Clearly not concerned that fans may question why. Seems to me that it is a strange thing to admit to and gives the impression that he/they are not concerned who knows. Feels me with great confidence for the Villa match. How long is this going on for - when we are in the bottom 3?

Yes, but if your willing to accept the results like the one at the weekend then there's something wrong.

Is this what we are now? Mid table championship Fayre?

Thing you have to ask is would Villa or Newcastle accept this situation and just carry on?

Not on your nelly.
