Well said Raw, I'm 68 next month and its that once in a lifetime opportunity to play on hallowed turf which is driving me on, I'll get on that pitch even if its only for 20 minutes.
Sounds like most will be in the right bracket age wise, their 'free agent' status is a grey area though.
Safc83, post: "I've been on the phone to the football club, out of interest to see if they still have any availability for us to play on gods green, if we can get the numbers. There's three days available. Tuesday 16th May - 3.30pm - 6.15pm Friday 26th May - 3.30pm - 6.15pm Friday 2nd June - 8.30am - 11.15pm I'm still available and willing to play, the girl I've spoke with ha told me it's short notice so we will have to move quick. If you are a certainty and would like to play, please drop your name down on this thread so I can have numbers. Cheers. Oh, remember it's £1800, so if we can get 18 together then we are looking at £100 per man. You get a tour of the Stadium, use of all the facilities, play the game and also an awards ceremony afterwards." That's a bloody long day..PS..If it 8:30 in the morning until 11:30 in the morning I could just about make this one. I would also be OK on May 16th, but would struggle on the 26th May as I would be getting up from night shift then back to work again straight after the game.
So tuesday 16th is favourite up to now, with Whitey and Brian expressing that preference and the young ones (me and '83) being available for any of them Come on lads . . . . we need a few more
Gordon, I've never thought of myself as a Brian, but I'm happy for you to call me whatever you like, if this game goes ahead you'll call me much worse when you've seen my undoubted skills
It will The girl from the club rang me today, she's just as keen to help us out and is going all out to find us a match. She knows our team are generally older lads. Only a few months now, keep hitting them streets and get your fitness up 'Brian'
Pops, you are naughty, the word lads can cover many generations, but as its our club so Howay the Lads, and let's have a few more takers and less excuses.
My backs a goner, mate. I'll barely be able to walk for a fortnight after playing a match on a pitch that size. It won't stop me, though. It's always been my dream to score at the SOL and I'm about to make my little dream come true
