Not sure it's worth getting upset over. He's entitled to his opinion.

Plus there's the old twitter cliché "all views are my own".

I am going for quality rather than quantity. Lineker is a fake, he presents this caring, nice, family man image but the reality is nothing like that. He is a womaniser and an arrogant prick.

My Mum and Dad were active members of the Labour Party. My Dad was a shop steward when he worked for BICC in Belvedere. I learnt how to debate from an early age. My politics has not followed my parents.into the Labour Party. I take the best out of all the parties so I am a right wing liberal socialist.:emoticon-0110-tongu

I joined the Labour Party in the 1980's to help get rid of Militant, now we've got Momentum. There's a couple of them in my ward, they're poison.

Gary Lineker appearing on BBC Question Time this week, after the BBC rejected Ken Livingstone & Owen Jones in his place.

Lets hope there are no questions about tax avoidance, off shore accounts, adultery or middle aged men suffering mid life crisis.

ok I've not followed this story, so don't really know what Lineker said, however, a version i heard (not read) was he spoke out about child/family migrants and that some of the migrants coming across were youth/adults posing as children and some of the more mature members shall we say were placed into schools. Anyone wish to enlighten me whether this is utter bullshit or if there is any foundation in it :)

Lineker objected to the millions of British people who could clearly see that the "Syrian children" let in from Calais 10 days ago were in fact adults. He branded such people "racists". Since then he has embarked on a moronic campaign of virtue signalling, "where is your compassion" etc. It is clear from his Twitter feed that thousands have rightly bitten back at him, pointing out his BBC - funded salary and asking how many child refugees he personally has offered a home to.

People like Lineker & Lily Allen can never explain why these refugees cross through 9 safe countries and are so determined to come to ours

because Lineker is such revolting man .... leaving his first wife a week or so after his daughter had come out of hospital with a life threatening illness because he was desperate to move in with his 18 year old girlfriend...
    ....
    ...
    ...
and yet I am forced by law to contribute to his £2m plus salary from the BBC <grr> the man is scum.

If Lineker is so interested in child welfare then why didn't he look after his own children better rather than just consider his OWN sordid desires?

Thanks lads, i understand the uproar now. The reason ive been told that male migrants cross many borders to get to the UK is because we allow their families over quicker than any other nation - i hasten to add i don't know how true this is.

Wouldn't surprise me. The apology was of corse a sentence in the corner of page 4016 a day later. Very noble of them.

As for Lineker, his Twitter is his private account - not one in association or governed by the BBC. I personally don't think individuals should use their celebrity for most things, but he's entitled to his opinion, and if people shout off at him for doing so then he's allowed to respond to them. Our television license money has no bearing on his Twitter account. Why the drama?

Because Lineker is using his licence fee funded status as a BBC MOTD presenter to promote his own politically correct views.

Hence his Tweet on Saturday about Liverpool's goal being created & scored by "foreigners" with a winking face attached.

I make no bones about it- my personal view is that the current immigration rate should be reduced to somewhere between 0 and zero, and for a long time to come, but then again I am not paid by the BBC Poll tax.
