I'm glad we seem to be doing the deal. Sometimes a signing like this can rejuvenate and galvanise a whole team all on their own.
Reports saying he has signed for UTD http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...ibrahimovic-signs-man-united-deal_274205.html http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...brahimovic-one-year-deal-transfer-news-gossip also Zlatan is no Chuck Norris
I would imagine he will tie up the transfer news withy his new clothing range announcement to max the publicity -
So... any big announcement by Zlatan today? I heard he announced he had maccaroni cheese for lunch. Should have put it in the What the fck am I having for Dinner thread!
Or were things derailed a little by JM having to attend the employment tribunal today ...............................alternatively - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...ransfer-to-manchester-united-held-up-so-stri/
Done deal it seems, subject to medical straight after Euros - http://www.skysports.com/football/n...e-medical-ahead-of-manchester-united-transfer
This signing will tremendously boost the club, I believe. This is another one for those who claim we cannot compete for best players in the world without playing in Champions League. Very short sighted prognosis.
This can go one of two ways, Falcau or Cantona. I hope for the latter but fear the first at his age and the pace of the Premier League. If nothing else his arrogance/confidence should help the younger players to gain some swagger.
I wouldn't play Zlatan as a lone striker. He is not mobile enough and needs a younger and faster striker next to him. He is the poacher and will put away the chances coming his way but I fear the pace of the premiership might be too much for him if he has to outpace the defenders.
He won't be a Falcao, he's a very good player who will no doubt give the place a buzz. Falcao was a recovering crock who didn't actually recover. That said, he's no Cantona either. Cantona was 25 when he came to United and four years younger than Zlatan is now when he retired. I don't get the constant comparison? They're both enigmatic, that's about it really. Zlatan may well provide a similar impetus but it won't be the same long term catalyst effect Cantona had.
I think his value will lie in his influence on and off the field in terms of helping our young strikers to develop. I can see him playing either as an attacking midfield or as second striker, a target man to hold up play and lay the ball off to our more mobile players. JM has the knowledge, the influence and the budget to get virtually any player he wants - for him to go straight in for Zlatan gives some indication of his real value.
