Poch said that Real hadn’t contacted him yet. But then said ‘when Real Madrid call, you have to listen’

If that’s not a come and get me plea then I don’t know what is. Obviously it depends on Levy, who won’t want him to go and poch has indicated that ‘it’s not just up to me’, but even that suggests that he would be open to it.

If he wasn’t interested, he would have just ruled it out completely. Instead he’s very much opened the door to the possibility.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino insists that he is "very happy" at his current club, and will not "force a move" to Real Madrid.
By Matt Law, European Football Editor

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he is "very happy" at his current club, and will not "force a move" to Real Madrid this summer.
Pochettino signed a new five-year contract at White Hart Lane towards the end of last month, but his future has been thrown into doubt following Zinedine Zidane's exit from Real Madrid.
Los Blancos are believed to want the Argentine as their new head coach, but Pochettino has denied suggestions that he will push for a move to the Spanish capital.
"I'm very happy at Tottenham," Pochettino told reporters. "It would be disrespectful to Daniel [Levy] for me to force a move. I've just renewed with Tottenham and am happy.
"I live in the present, there is nothing more important than that. I enjoy what is happening and what has to be will be. Jorge Griffa (retired Argentine footballer) once told me that I must let football take me, that I do not want to change my destiny."
Pochettino also confirmed that there is no release clause in his current deal that allows him to enter into discussions with Real Madrid.

On the contrary. If he wasn’t ready for he challenge he would have just ruled it out. The comment above was a non-commital stalling comment.

I’m torn really about whether I’d want him to leave. On the one hand, he’s won **** all at spurs and doesn’t look like likely to change that anytime soon. But on the other, the Spud meltdown if he did leave would be comedy gold.

Why is he even mentioning ‘forcing a move’ ? If he’s really committed to spurs then he would have just ruled it out completely.

I also learned that unrelenting progress actually means to stay stagnant.

Probably because that was the question asked? "Mauricio, can you see yourself forcing a move to join Real Madrid?"

Edit - more or less says that in the article - but Pochettino has denied suggestions that he will push for a move to the Spanish capital.

Possibly, but the guardian article places those comments in a different context, without him being asked whether he would force a move.

The comments about ‘when Real Madrid call, you have to listen’

And responding to the reporter who asked if it was impossible to say no to Madrid with ‘for you maybe, not for me’

More than leave the door open imo

  8. Hm.

Let's see what The Guardian actually reported, shall we?

    From the article:-

“I’m very happy at Tottenham,” Pochettino told a news conference. “It would be disrespectful to Daniel [ for me to force a move. I’ve just renewed with Tottenham and I am happy."

    End of quote.

I have simply copied, cut and pasted directly from the article.

Notice the use of the open bracket before the words "...for me to force a move..."

    There is no closed bracket.

Brackets are used by writers to insert words that haven't actually been used by the speaker, and are nothing more than interpretations, by the writer, as to what he thinks the speaker might say. The words inside brackets are, therefore, nothing more than fiction.

Whether or not the lack of a closed bracket is down to the journo's sheer incompetence or evidence of his third-rate wummery, is open to debate.

What we do know, is that you have committed yet another massive wum **** up, Pix.

What do you make of poch saying that it wouldn’t be impossible to say no to Madrid ?

And more importantly, what do you think he had for lunch ?

This is exactly what Spurs don't need. Players on international duty not knowing what's going on at home and getting whispers about bigger earnings.

    Could all unravel here tbh.

There’s already talk of Eriksen joining him on their way to Spain.

    Read what was written ffs!

Poch was asked if it was impossible to say "no" to Real, to which he said, "for me, it isn't."

What part of that don't you understand?

Again, in your desperately aching need to find some comfort, you have walked into a cluster-**** of a wum debacle, mate.

That's good from a Spurs perspective. If he'd said it would be impossible to say no to Madrid, then we'd be worried. Are you misreading the quote?

    ^^^ rattled to ****ety **** <laugh>

So if he’s saying that it isn’t impossible to say no to Madrid, then he’s saying it’s possible he’ll say yes.

Agree with Piskie that he's certainly leaving the door open though.

Yeah I know, I’m just muddying the waters :)

I’m a bit surprised that he hasn’t just ruled it out 100% though. Lots of those comments are open to interpretation.
