Strong rumours he's signing for us. What are your opinions.

All I know is that he's an injury prone, tall, left footed centre half.

If he stays fit he is a decent centre back , especially left sided of the back pairing. Gets to a lot of headers at set pieces/corners but never seems to score! Reasonable on the ball and distribution decent most of the time. Not the quickest but OK.

With him, I will be amazed if he plays more than 50% of your fixtures!

I thought he was our best centre back overall last season. Surprised we let him leave. Does pick up injuries though.

    Andy King - Leicester player

And a Leicester badge as avatar.

I have a feeling he is a Leicester fan, so "us" would be Leicester

He'll be a squad player, most likely.

Probably behind Wes Morgan and *maybe* St Ledger.

I think we have our eye on another CB too.

But, overall, a decent signing on a free?

Yes. He's an accomplished player, but as others have said, injury prone. The reason Norwich released him, we understand, was that he wanted more in his wage packet than City were prepared to pay. Otherwise he might well have been offered an extension to his contract. <ok>

Leicester will be willing to pay much more than us. He's a good player- definately good enough to compete for first XI in top championship team/ average prem team imo. Surprised he didn't get a move to another prem side.

How are Leicester looking this year? A defense with Morgan and St Ledger and potentially Whitbread? Nugent and Beckford up front? Worth a punt for champions?

I'm definitely in the minority here, but I didn't rate him that highly. He didn't tend to get caught out as much as some of our other liabilities, but his passing was inaccurate and I definitely panicked whenever he got the ball.

That's not to say he isn't any good- he can be very effective, but I felt that both our new centre-halfs are much more accomplished footballers than him and I think that a lot of Norwich fans liked him because (despite the injuries) he was very much a give-it-your-all Steve the Pirate type defender. I would have been content with him being a back-up, but no more, so for his wage demands he had to go.

I'm still suspicious about those wage demands anyway, because he got off a ban from driving two weeks after being released on the basis that he had no job! Smell a rat...

Anyway, if he's a back-up for you, at Championship level he'll do a fine job so I'd say he's a very good squad signing on a free from your POV
