It probably has run its course. Personally couldn't give a fck if it stops tomorrow or carries on ad infinitum. But what I don't get is why some ppl clutch at any straw to feel offended by it. The faux piggybacking onto a black player who chooses not to do it, as some sort of justification of why it doesn't really fight racism, pretending like they actually give a fck about that, is a particular peach of bullshit.
