It says BRISTOL City are prepared to push out the boat in an attempt to land highly-rated Bolton Wanderers youngster Zach Clough. In the market for attacking players to bolster his forward line, Robins boss Steve Cotterill has tabled a bid of £3 million for the 20-year-old Mancunian, who has been watched by Premier League giants Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton. Now fully recovered from the shoulder injury that ruled him out for several months, Clough is seen as a key figure in Bolton's increasingly desperate fight for Championship survival. But the cash-strapped Lancashire club are facing a winding up order unless they pay a £2 million tax bill by January 18 and financial pressures may force them to sell arguably their brightest young talent.
Let's hope he's prepared to leave Manchester. For someone so young being homesick may also be an issue if he does join us. Then there's the pressure on him to deliver the goods....

City's bid is understood to match Bolton's valuation and sources in the north west suggest financial advisor Trevor Birch might already have recommended acceptance. Certainly, Clough was left behind in Manchester when the rest of his team-mates headed south for today's FA Cup third round tie at Eastleigh and it is expected he will hold talks with City officials this weekend. Whether Clough himself is prepared to leave the region where he was born and brought up remains to be seen, but Bolton could force him out of the door in order to tackle mounting debts and avert the threat of administration and a points deduction that would seal their relegation to League One. Midfielder Mark Davies was sold to Sheffield Wednesday for £750,000 on Friday and it looks as though others could follow him through the Macron Stadium exit before this month is out. A natural number ten, Clough burst onto the Championship scene 12 months ago when making his first team debut and scoring in an FA Cup third round tie against local rivals Wigan Athletic. Described as a "special player" by Bolton manager Neil Lennon, the forward signed a two-year contract just days later, committing his future to the Macron Stadium until 2017. A natural goal-scorer, he netted twice on his League debut in a 2-2 draw with Wolves and then won the penalty that enabled Icelandic striker Elour Guojohnsen to score from the spot in a 2-1 FA Cup defeat at the hands of Liverpool. After the game, Patrice Muamba described him as the best player on the field. On February 28, Clough scored a sixth goal in nine games against Brighton to make him Bolton's leading scorer in the 2014/15 season. But he then suffered a dislocated shoulder in a game against Reading and was ruled out for the remainder of the season. He has made 13 appearances this term, scoring three times, most recently netting a double in a 2-2 draw against Fulham. He has scored nine goals in 17 Championship appearances for the Trotters, averaging a goal every two games.
If he was coming it would have been done today, personally don't want somebody here if they don't want to be here. Lets Move on christ a 20 year old that has done nothing yet and the forums are on meltdown hoping he signs.
Transfer Centre LIVE! 21:09CLOUGH IN BRISTOL TALKSBolton youngster Zach Clough is in talks with Bristol City over a £2million move, according to the Daily Mail. However, the 20-year-old is reportedly unsure whether a move to Ashton Gate would be right for him.Championship clubs Middlesbrough, Wolves and Birmingham have also made offers for Clough.
Nobody else has made a bid. He has now gone back to Bolton with his agent to think about this move overnight after being impressed with what he was shown and the things said to him. His agent wants this move, so do Bolton. It will be announced tomorrow if he's coming, if we hear nothing then assume he's decided against it but as it stands at the moment it's looking very good.
Would not surprise me if he's announced on the pitch at tonight's game. But I've made this prediction before and got it wrong
From BBC Sport: Zach Clough: Bristol City say Bolton accept bid for forward Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has confirmed the Robins have had a £2m bid for Zach Clough accepted by Bolton. The 20-year-old has been the subject of interest from various Championship clubs including Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield and Birmingham. Clough has scored nine goals in 23 appearances for the Wanderers and City will now look to agree personal terms. From Sky Sports: Bolton youngster Zach Clough is in talks over a move to Bristol City after the clubs agreed a fee of £3m for his transfer, according to Sky sources. The Trotters, at the bottom of the Championship and in financial turmoil, need to sell players and Clough is reportedly of interest to several other clubs in the same division including Birmingham, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday. But sources have confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ that Bristol City have lodged a bid and are now speaking to the player over a move to Ashton Gate.
Vital Birmingham told you last week that Gary Rowett was ready to make a move for Bolton Wanderers teenage striker Zach Clough and now the Daily Mail are reporting something along the same lines. However, Blues face stiff competition for the youngster with Bristol City already having a £2 million bid accepted for the hot prospect. Not only have the Robins had a bid accepted but league rivals Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also reportedly interested in the 19 year old. It seems, Wolves, Birmingham, Florest and Middlesboro are interested in him as well. As I see it the only point of difference we have that may sway him is he would get first team football here, the other are pushing auto promotion or play offs, so I doubt they would risk using him too much.
