I thought this was a fascinating account of the varying degrees of importance put on the youth set-ups in terms of developing actual used talent at 3 of the biggest spending clubs in the country. I had no idea Utd’s was so on its arse recently -12 U18s games lost in a row?!? And of course Rashford featuring in more games for Utd than any other player, or indeed any player in the top 5 leagues, will be ignored as Jose doesn’t trust young talent. https://news.paddypower.com/footbal...AFF_ID=16562&dclid=CLGJ9LPFk9kCFcWZGAod8kEAkQ
Interesting to look at this list of youth cup finals and see which players went on to have successful careers. Especially from the famous class of 92 final against Leeds. Leeds won both legs but compare what their winning players did against Man Utd's. Impressive crowds at both games. I know someone whom was scouting for Man Utd in the late 1990s and he always referred to the players in that final as how being good at that age didn't necessarily mean you would be outstanding a few years later. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FA_Youth_Cup_Finals_of_the_1990s
Cheers for that. It’s noticeable when a name did make it, when surely it should be the other way around. Quite a few with links to us there - Regan, Jevons, Clemence, Rioch, Forrester, McPhee, Garcia, Bywater... Did we have Stev Angus for a bit as well or am I getting confused with my own team on Champ Manager?!?
Unfortunately we weren't linked with names from the Man U lot who lost to Leeds. Funny to think Robbie Savage was in such stellar company.
Did the club miss a trick with NF too. Surely perfect place for our older youngsters to get senior football experience whilst still staying within the club?
