No, Wolves came in for him after Leicester lost interest. We wanted to keep him but couldn't. Idah and Spyrou have eased that blow though.
We managed to keep Wolves Under 23s much quieter in the 2nd half whilst creating very few clear-cut chances at the other end, but the damage had been done by ex NVFC Academy player Benny Ashley-Seal. Simon Power got the MotM award. Wolves had done their homework and kept Idah (pronounced 'Eedah') fairly quiet, though he did manage to get the ball in the net, but was flagged offside - he also came in for quite a bit of 'manhandling' by the Wolves defence. I'm hoping that the Under 23s will perform better this season and that they can get back to winning ways. They're away at Sunderland on 16th Sep and then home to Newcastle on 21st and ManUre on 28th - both at Colney. All fixtures here - https://www.canaries.co.uk/Matches/FixturesandResults/
Max Aarons has been called up to the England U19s as he continues to progress. https://readnorwich.com/2018/08/31/max-aarons-receives-england-u19-call-up/
Sean Raggett has an injury requiring surgery, and several months out. Unfortunate for him as it was looking like he was finding some form.
Fantastic news to read this - 'Godfrey is part of the new breed at Norwich as the focus turns on polishing rough diamonds in the hope it can save the club millions in transfer fees. Godfrey was majestic as Farke’s youngsters eased to a 3-1 win at Cardiff City in the second round of the Carabao Cup last month.' http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/ben-godfrey-norwich-city-breakthrough-1-5687424 This is probably more important for future of NCFC than being able to bring through the likes of the Murphy twins and I'm CERTAIN when other young players around the country see how JM developed under DF and his coaches guidance and then this article by DDF - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/maddison-so-grateful-to-ncfc-1-5686485, we could be in for some exciting times ahead. Unfortunately, it also means that many players will only be with us for a few years and that DF may be our Head Coach for several years - FML/KIO and othes Edit - I'm still not a fan of so much 'sideways passing' that we see at CR, but there is definitely a gradual improvement in our attacking play and I'm sticking by my prediction of a top 10 finish!!!
Totally agree JMF. The new management structure is aimed at long-term growth and development and that requires patience. The major restructuring is now complete with the 7 new players and 4 returning young players this season. Godfrey shows huge potential and offers a different option at CB. His ability to also play as a DM makes him more mobile playing out of defence in the modern style DF is installing. This sometimes means passing sideways if there is no clearcut option ahead, but that is far better than hoofing the ball only to lose possession most of the time. With Leitner (or Vrancic, when he returns) sitting deeper as the playmaker, we also get the ball forward quickly more than we did last season. Hernandez is perfectly suited to this style and hopefully Buendia and the other new players will be as well. Lewis (who seems like a veteran now) and Pinto or Aarons (an even more amazing breakthrough at just 18) provide additional width and attacking options. Yes, we need points as well, but let's not lose sight of the long-term development because of that.
The problem with sideways passing in the defensive half, you have to have two players capable of incisive forward pass, with only one, opponents will close down the creative player. With Tetty in the team we usually only have the one outlet. For this reason I would prefer it if he only played in away matches.
Not sure if this has been posted already but Lewis started for Northern Ireland the other day in a 1-0 loss
I was looking for the designated International performances of NCFC present players thread but sadly this disorganised board hasn't bothered providing one. It's a shambles.
