I wonder whether any of Shrewsbury's better players will be on our radar this summer. Neyul will have seen them all in action several times, I wonder whether anyone impressed?

Agreed RER and let's hope Morris' injury isn't too serious.

I think Godfrey has the potential to step and play a part for us next season, however I'm far from convinced Morris has the potential to play at a higher level than he's currently playing at.

Jon Nolan, Godfreys midfield partner, has been touted for a move to the championship, but he’s another midfielder which we don’t really need right now!

Much will depend on how his playing style can fit, or be adapted to how Farke wants to play. It has been suggested he wants faster more mobile forwards, I don't think that Morris necessarily fits in with that, but I don't think Srbeny does either, so who knows what Farke really wants?

    Bah!

Vital Norwich has an article on Todd Cantwell's role next season.

    https://norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/is-todd-cantwell-norwich-citys-new-number-10/

They suggest that he could be a replacement for, or a back-up to Madders. That could be true, but I think he's more likely to play in a wide attacking role, especially if DF plays a 4-3-3 (as he did a lot in the final matches) to build attacks more quickly. TC could be a useful sub coming on to use his pace and trickery to break down stubborn sides. He came on in that role in his debut against Chelsea and was effective in doing so. It would be more like the role Pritchard played before he left.

I'm not so sure Dave. Morris offers a different option to our other strikers. As a sub to add another option late in matches where we're chasing a goal, for example. We need at least three strikers to cope with injuries.

He made 54 appearances for the Shrews, scoring 10 goals. He certainly started their crucial end of season games, including at Wembley. At 6'2" he has a physical presence our other strikers lack, particularly for crosses into the box. At 22, he has gained a fair measure of experience and could rival Srbeny, IMO. Hard to say how it would work out though.

He had a chat with his manager around Xmas time and he certainly made the starting 11 a lot more frequently after that. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.

Further on this, MB makes a similar argument in his article about Vrancic's season.

"From his first run-out he always looked a player that would need the right assistance around him; the legs, the runners and the support. The theory was often proven, as Vrancic switched from co-holder to deep-lying runner, number 10 to wider attacking support."

That's the role I see Cantwell playing and I think he could do it well, but the competition in midfield will be fierce with McLean coming in, as that's how he plays, as does Leitner, if he returns. MB explains further in the article:

To follow up on this, he's just signed with Ebbsfleet. Still in the National League, finished in the play-offs rather than the mid-table finish he was part of with Orient.

This story does seem a tad invented, and months after the event. All reports at the time indicated he wanted to leave.
