Bournemouth are 1-0 up against Wolves after 5 minutes. Edit - make that 3-0 after 27 minutes, so looks like the end of the road for our under 23s in this year's PL Cup.
Now 4-0 approaching half time. Wolves owners have probably spent all their money buying players for the first team, rather than developing their own!!!!
It ended up 5-1 to Bournemouth. Probably more to do with Wolves being through already and Bournemouth having to win to go through. I wonder how many players Wolves 'rested'.
Yes Rick, I'd forgotten that Wolves had already qualified. Let's hope our Under 18s can deliver tomorrow night and it's just TOO child for me to even consider going to the game.
The locals say - 'Wuus'!! So Godfrey and Morris are one game away from a trip to Wembley when they take on Yeovil Town in the Chekatrade semi final tonight - https://www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2018/february/carlton-morris-pre-yeovil-town/
Fantastic motivation for the under 18s tonight - "The presence of first team head coach Daniel Farke, sporting director Stuart Webber and majority shareholders Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones gives the youngsters all the motivation they need for their big game." I'm sure one of the Archant reporters will be there to give regular updates. http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...-fa-youth-cup-quarter-final-preview-1-5410704
Which is why they needed to be out on loan, rather than playing for U23 with an occasional cameo in the first team. The experience they gain this year will really help them next year when we push for promotion.
The pitch will be fine with undersoil heating and the weather forecast is around -3 with occasional snow flurries and the fans are in the City Stand, so not too exposed to the wind.
So Archant have rolled out the 'big guns' for tonight's game, with PD posting updates -http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/live-coverage-of-canaries-versus-birmingham-city-in-the-fa-youth-cup-quarter-final-1-5411138 0-0 at half time. Edit - Quite a few postponed games tonight, including Shrewsbury V Yeovil in the Chekatrade semi final.
GOAL BIRMINGHAM - Anderson (52) Norwich City U18s 0 Birmingham City U18s 1 Fa Youth Cup quarter-final updates at http://pinkun.com/live #NCFC #BCFC
Brum take the lead. C'mon city, you've come from behind in the last 2 games. Edit - Brum leading 2-0. !!! PD saying that the lines n the pitch are covered in snow. Spyrou gets a goal back.
From bad to worse: The away side quickly double their lead as Jordan Clarke pounces in the box to fire home. NCFC 0-2 BCFC (55)
Comment from PD - "This has come down effectively to a 3 min spell when #ncfc knocked off in terms of concentration and #bcfc upped the ante. Rest of the game nothing really between the sides. Brutal lesson" #soundsfamiliar Edit - I've just looked out of the window and CR is about 3 miles away. There's been a lot of snow since I got in about 7pm. #pleasedIstayedathome Safe journey home to all the fans and players.
Goal for City! Anthony Spyrou pulls one back late on for the hosts. NCFC 1-3 BCFC (90) Only a consolation in the end but at least they kept fighting. Two quick goals early in the second half undid them.
A good report on last night's game - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...-youth-cup-3-1-birmingham-city-exit-1-5412768 Edit - Seems as though Godfrey is becoming a really useful player and I just HOPE that DF can include him in his first team squad next season, otherwise, I feel he'll ask for a transfer - https://www.shropshirestar.com/spor...-impressing-norwich-team-mate-carlton-morris/
Good article JMF. IMO Godfrey and Thompson are our future DMs. The fact that Godfrey can also play CB and RB should insure he gets a good amount of playing time. Both he and Morris should be back at City next season and hopefully have a breakthrough season.
